DW Specialist 9mm - Anyone with Experience?

So, I love 1911's but when I consolidated to 9mm, I didn't give the manother thought. A wild hair had me thinking about 1911's and realized it's 2020, there are probably some good, reliable 9mm 1911's. Part of me wants to splurge and get something nice. I can get LEO discounts through CZ/Dan Wesson. I really like the looks and package the Specialist offers. Anyone have experience? Or other good 9mm 1911's? Reliabiltiy is my number one concern,

I can't speak to the 9mm but I have the DW Guardian in 38 Super. It has been boringly reliable. I would suspect the Specialist (damn nice looking 1911) would be the same. DW does recommend a 200 rd break-in period, so expect a couple of glitches at first. Mine was "broke-in" & running like a sewing machine after 50 rounds.

I had one in .45ACP. It ran very well and I had a X300U under it. I used Wilson ETMs and 47Ds to feed it. My biggest complaint was the rear sight kept drifting right on me. DW didn't want to warrant it because I had aftermarket Trijicon sights, the factory one did the same thing and was included in the box that went back to them.

I’ve had mine long enough to put 4200 rounds through it as of today. I’ve had two or three malfunctions in that time; generally speaking it runs like a sewing machine. I swapped out the ambi safety for a Wilson single sided unit and the sights for some Proctor Y-Notches. I’m feeding it from DW, Wilson, and Mec-Gar 10 rounders. It doesn’t appear to be ammo picky. I’ve run some genuine garbage ammo through it with no issue, as well as a significant quantity of NATO ball. Super happy with it so far.
