    Tubbs makes a flatwire mag spring. Chrome silicon extra strength mag springs are available from a few companies. IIRC the fabled HK maritime mags have braided wire springs and the entire mag is longer, heavier, and stupider. I don’t feel like taking mine apart to check. I’m happy with USGI and whatever comes in PMags, myself. What problems are y’all having in which mag springs are the root cause?

    I've never even heard of a spring issue on a USGI mag or Pmag. In theory, the spring would/should outlast the mag body.

    You’re right. I just took one apart from the same era, and it isn’t braided. Mine doesn’t have the red paint on the spring though. I’ll take apart another one later.
