I learned long ago that when it comes to optics and mounts, you need to just buy, shoot, and determine what works for you. It’s a lot of coin, but in high end optics at most you would lose $200-300 (assuming you didn’t massively overpay) if you sell after using the optic for awhile. You’re risking the cost of a really nice dinner and drinks for two to determine if an optic is right for you.

If you can, I would most definitely wait until the new Vortex HD Gen 3 Razor 1-10x scope comes out, as a possible option.

Honestly, I would go for a Razor 1-6 or Khales k16i. The Razor being cheaper and brighter and the Khales being lighter. Both offer same if not better 1x. If you really need the ffp and 8x more then you do 1x performance...get a 2.5-10 optic. The high end will be less sensitive and overall provide better optical quality. But, if you plan on using 1x the most...consider the other two.

As far as NX8...it’s very bright and very light. But it’s 1x is among worst I’ve seen in a lpvo and 8x eyebox is very sensitive/twitchy that it’s almost unusable.

I already have the ATACR and 2 NX8s. Thinking of selling the ATACR and getting a 2.5 by NF

In that case I would go for the Vortex PST Gen II 2.5-10. At least that is FFP...granted it’s not “high end” like the NF ones, but on a scope in that mag range I would prefer the FFP.

IMHO, sometimes you can’t always fix the hardware problem, until you fix the software problem.

I have the ATACR 1-8 and Kahles k16i. Among some of my friends, there are also several NX8, Vortex 1-6 razor HD-E, NXS 2.5-10x25. I personally love the ATACR 1-8 on a 308. We were making hits out to 920 yds with it. The k16i is awesome. I really like it. But the ATACR 1-8 is better suited for a contact to 800 yd 308 carbine. FFP vs SFP, no matter at 8x as it’s apples to apples at full mag. The FFP in the ATACR 1-8 allows for an uncluttered reticle that’s useable at 1x, while only seeing the more cluttered Christmas tree at higher mags.

The only 2.5-10 that interests me is the nxs 2.5-10x24, but it’s not a very forgiving optic in the eye box department. A larger size 2.5-10 and I’m moving up to a 4-16 or similar.

Did you think the ATACR 1-8 was too heavy for a carbine?

I don't get it, you literally own the optic...can't you answer that question for yourself. Maybe bolt it on one of your carbines and run around with it? People really need to stop caring about how other people are running their guns. Instagram and Fb really did a number on the gun community.
