It is a conundrum isnt it. On the one hand you want to report all suspected cases to the public asap. And on the other hand you dont want to panic them or shut down normal day to day routines.

The market is currently overreacting to this. I've read nothing that indicates Covid-19 is worse than the seasonal flu in terms of mortality, transmission vectors, etc. If anything, I think traders were waiting for an excuse to pull back, so they're piling on this.

Right, the fact that China can't get enough workers to off load oil tankers so they are turning them away, same goes for ships loaded with soybeans, other commodities and raw materials has nothing to do with the market. Plus the fact that most factories are shut down and there is nothing to export just might be a factor also.
