Absolutely has crossed my mind more than once. Their general ineptness and well-known quality control certainly make this plausible.

The sad part is that if this was/is a bio weapon the Chi-Coms were experimenting with, and let it loose, who is going to call them out on it? Too much money in the US is tied to the People's Republic of China, and I think there will be a major effort to let the origin of this fade into background. But, this means that the Chi-Coms could be the greatest threat to mankind presently on this planet, sharing the top spot with radical Islam.

The issue that has raised my eyebrow is Carl Goldman. Mr Goldman has been in quarantine for over a month after testing positive on a cruise ship. He's been in the news saying he had a bit of a cough and fever for a couple days but that was it. Feels fine. However, he continues to test positive for corona after 35 days in quarantine.

Had he not been on a cruise ship he likely wouldn't have been tested (probably not even go to a doctor for a mild cold) and never known he had corona.

How many asymptomatic carriers are running around unaware for a month or more?

NBA just suspended their season after a jazz player tested positive.
