That's a long time.Six Bay Area counties are expected to demand residents shelter in place for the next three weeks as health officials scramble to keep coronavirus from spreading across the region.
Are we really shutting the country down due to an over hyped flu or is there something else going on here that I am missing?

BEst phrase to keep in you back pocket, almost the duct-tape, bisquick, WD-40 of responses- "If I wanted shit out of you, I'd squeeze your head.".
Not. Gonna. Happen. No reason for it and talk about screwing the pooch. Even Italy lets people out to get food, which has to be transported. What exactly would shutting down freight do? Sounds like a game of telephone gone wrong. An echo of the EU freight miss-speak. If we aren't even stopping in bound freight, but we stop intra-freight? FLights, maybe. Even that would be a bit much.
What do you mean?

Take it for what you will but I am hearing some sort of national level shutdown will happen on Wednesday. Not sure to what extent. Supposedly modeled after how Taiwan shut down and contained the virus. Basically health systems and grocery stores stay open but everything else for the most part will be closed down.

Michigan and Ohio have closed all restaurants and bars. MI went so far as to shut down theaters, including outdoor, casinos, sports venues, gyms, schools and more. Basically we have carryout and grocery stores which are literally sold out of rice. Lots of fresh produce tho and booze.
I imagine this will be the model. Only people with jobs are in government or medicine. And gov jobs are encouraged to work from home. Cops are being told only to react and take everything you can over the phone.
Just my observations so far. We'll see how it shakes out. Stocks suck right now and people are showing their stupid but all in all, I think it's less panic than the power outage in '03. Stay safe everyone.
