We have yet to get letters or anything of the sort...since I work in power generation, a very critical part of infrastructure right now, I would think we would have heard something by now.

I’m sure that the local cops will totally defer to this letter on company letterhead, and let me pass. I’m not sure 1/3 of them can read above a 3rd grade level, much less look up all the laws cited in the letter.

Not sure if there is a .gov version of the pass/letter to be had but that would require my employer to admit that there is any higher authority on this earth than the RR management team; a notion they simply will not entertain.

Our hospital had an employee test positive. They had been on vacation since 06 March and felt ill on the way home and went to the ER in another state. So far no cases in this county. One in the region.

I’ll bet you will if your state of residence goes full retard. We operate in a lot of states, so the company is trying to get ahead of it.

I have the letters. Got them Wednesday and they are dated through the end of May. They are on Dept of Homeland Security letterhead. Signed from:

    National Communications Coordination Branch
    Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency

For me it’s for cell tower emergency restoration. The letters were distributed through a cellular carrier.

You power people and the water folks are right up there with healthcare workers as far as importance IMHO. If, during the height of this, the lights went out and the water stopped running things would go right down the drain quickly. You may have a statistical advantage over healthcare workers as far as exposure goes, but you are all uber important in the grande scheme of things.

Gotta haul coal to keep those lights on, among other things. Lots of agricultural products and raw materials too.

Absolutely. The "essential personnel" list is rather large. It's like a tree that branches out as you consider what it takes to make X,Y, or Z happen and none of them can be done without. OTR truckers too (although I despise them on the interstate! ).
