Not really, Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus in 4/27/1861 and told SCOTUS to eat a bag of dicks about it.

The only power of the judicial branch is the power of judgment: It may truly be said to have neither FORCE nor WILL, but merely judgment; and must ultimately depend upon the aid of the executive arm even for the efficacy of its judgments.
Sometimes I wish we would ignore the Judicial branch more... Like Miller.

Russia locked down their borders like it was 1953. The prevented travel from countries with sick people, which is why they have very few cased. Unlike the UK where planes from China, Iran and Italy are landing as we speak with no checks on the passages disembarking. UK is gonna get effed in the A on this, just like Italy.

Agreed. For any doubters, read these two manuscripts and let us know what you think:

    2. http://virological.org/t/the-proxima...sars-cov-2/398

I would also think of the putative strategy behind such a move. That is, what does China attempt to gain by tanking their own economy that is inextricably linked to globe and US (Clearly COVID-19 isn't deadly nor selective enough to kill Americans only)? What would their be a military/strategic advantage for such a bioweapon? If anything I would expect conspiracy theorists to implicate a US plant in an effort to provoke an attack on China.

No question the virus is mutating as its spreads, either this is either gonna mutate and become more lethal or mutate and become less lethal.

Chinese strategic advantage for such a financial bio weapon, destroy your enemies economically while not destroying your key customer base and like I mentioned I don't think it was supposed to get loose in Wuhan, that was a boo boo.

And about the linked articles, what are they based on, past illness and Chinese released information? Do you believe that the Chinese are not screwing around with SARS in their shiny new BSL4 lab? These are evil people and normally long sighted, but Trump is a major thorn in their side and it sure looked like he was cruising to reelection before this happened.

Does anyone else think it is highly suspicious that China would agree to a trade deal advantageous to the US and a republican President during an election year? Like maybe they knew something was coming? Would be interesting to know if those Chinese representatives who came to Washington to sign the agreement came down with Covid-19 shortly after returning home.

I heard someone smart say that viruses tend to mutate to be less lethal, as killing it's own host is not good business practice in virus world.

Well lookee here. Health care workers on the board thank a DemCom for your shortage of PPE.

Los Angeles Times and Bloomberg News: Federal stockpile of N95 masks was depleted under Obama and never restocked

    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/n...ever-restocked

"The national shortage of N95 respirator masks can be traced back to 2009 after the H1N1 swine flu pandemic, when the Obama administration was advised to replenish a national stockpile but did not, according to reports from Bloomberg News and the Los Angeles Times."

"The George W. Bush administration published the National Strategy for Pandemic Influenza plan in 2005, which called on the federal government to distribute medical supplies from the Strategic National Stockpile governed by the Health and Human Services Department in the event of an outbreak.

In 2009, the H1N1 outbreak hit the United States, leading to 274,304 hospitalizations, 12,469 deaths, and a depletion of N95 respirator masks.

A federally backed task force and a safety equipment organization both recommended to the Obama administration that the stockpile be replenished of the 100 million masks used after the H1N1 outbreak, according to the Los Angeles Times."

North Carolina governor curtailing a few more businesses. Not NY/NJ/Cali type of lock down, but I won't be surprised if becomes death by a thousand cuts.

I see a very significant disconnect between what the Very Important People are saying, and what the people are actually doing. I took my sons to work yesterday, no change in volume at the shopping centers, the basketball courts were busy, and the soccer fields were full. People either a) have pandemic overload, b) think the risk is overstated, and/or c) don't care. Maybe a combo of all three.

It just goes to show you that the state can shut down and businesses modify hours, but people are gonna people.
