Just an observation from Northern/Northeastern New Mexico from yesterday. Our Spring branding is winding down and I was in Las Vegas and Santa Fe doing some financial business for the ranch. All the major banks and local credit unions have closed down walk-in banking, and only drive up. The Friday after the first and the fifteenth is always busy, but I saw something yesterday in both towns I have not seen before - lines of up to 100 or more cars and trucks lined up for the drive-up banking, with the lines extending blocks down the streets.

In Santa Fe, police had officers at the intersections directing traffic, allowing people to exit the bank lots. Absolutely insane.

I see same. Have banks closed their doors and only allowing drive up perhaps? I have not been to the bank in some time being able to do most of it online or via app.

When I hear “experts” quickly ruling out the possibility of this virus escaping a lab, I become very skeptical.

A lot of New Mexicans have no internet, nor do they have debit cards or use checks. Most of the rural Indians go to town and raid their accounts the first of the month, then go around paying cash for everything. Some of the smaller Hispanic or Old Spanish ranchers use cash for everyday stuff, then a cashier's check for bigger purchases.

In some ways, it's still 1910 in a lot of New Mexico. Maybe that's part of the "enchantment" in the Land of Enchantment?

Yep, noticed the same yesterday after work when I stopped at the bank. Not hundreds of cars mind you, but noticeably more than usual lined up.

It's full on fake news. The experts basically say "we wouldn't have made it that way" to make a bio weapon, and I think that part is a reasonable hot take.

Where it gets shady is, they then skip right over the collection and study we know was happening to proclaim it didn't come from a lab.

As we should be. It's not tin foil hat stuff to be suspicious of the claim it didn't come from the lab considering the history of the Chinese in that area.

We are seeing similar in areas where there's no lack of credit cards, etc. Not 100s of cars for sure, but much longer line than typical.

    Indeed.

in my non expert opinion, It would seem pre mature to claim with any authority it didn't come from the lab lose to the market. Also, the Chinese have a bad habit of selling lab animals to those markets for food for extra $, and perhaps that's the lab->market connection. I suspect we will never have a clear answer to that one, even if our government knows the answer.

50%?! I'd read 20-30% which is bad enough. Still gather data of course, but:

Half of people with coronavirus have no symptoms, data shows

About half of people who have the coronavirus show no symptoms, according to data from Iceland, the Italian town of Vo, and the Diamond Princess cruise ship.

The data from those places is of particular interest to researchers because in those places even people without symptoms were tested – which is not the case in the U.S. and most countries, where desperately needed tests are reserved mostly for people who show symptoms.

Experts say the discovery has critical implications and shows that even more widespread testing may be needed to identify all carriers.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is also expected to recommend face coverings in virus hot-spots soon because that may help prevent spread from people who show no symptoms.

Here’s some of the data that experts are looking at.
