For a lot of my friends, the end of life as we know it was the cancellation of the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. That one event is a huge source of yearly income there. Grand and San Juan Counties in Utah are two of my favorite places anywhere. I've got cousins ranching in San Juan County east and southeast from Monticello.

Mine has been motorbank only for a few weeks now. There are exceptions for large clients with loan documents and whatnot but it is very controlled, social distancing is maintained, and everything gets sanitized.

I had to go in for a signature card, they were keeping the lobby locked because they had a large staff and it was easier to control group numbers by letting in only a few folks at a time.

This is crazy they would bring this risk onboard. They brought few patients aboard from the Javits center to the hospital ship.

Well the problem is, if they aren't going to bring covid patients...they aren't going to see many patients at all. Apparently they have a list of forty some diseases that they are not willing to treat. With a shelter in place style quarantine going, there aren't a lot of other patients beyond heart disease and so forth. If they can't treat these patients, then it's truly just symbolic help and no comfort at all.

Edit: Also as of yesterday they stated that the patients do not need a negative test to be transferred, they will all be isolated and tested aboard the ship. So they are expecting covid positive patients to be brought on, and have some sort of protocol in place already. The reality is that patients going through emergency rooms in New York stand a great chance of becoming positive if they weren't already, so even a negative test could very well produce a patient for the Comfort who is positive later.

Depends on where y'all live. This isn't super comforting...predicted peak resource consumption for each state. There's obviously a lot of conjecture in something like this, so take it with a grain of salt. https://thehill.com/changing-america...-in-your-state

That is an understatement......there is nothing about this whole shit-show that is even remotely comforting.

Cold-water-in-your-face moment: think back to the holidays. It was just a few months ago. Can you have imagined things would be like they are now, seeing the things we're witnessing take place? Sometimes when I step back and think about that it is incredibly sad. How naive and oblivious we all were to the darkness that lay right around the corner. This disease and all that came with it socially and economically. Some have said "We are living history right now". I have to honestly say I am not enamored with what this history will entail, nor am I particularly glad it was during my time on this rock.

I, like many people, kind of get a "recharge" of sorts with Spring and the weather getting warmer. This year is different, way different. It's like an extension of winter's gloom. Yeah, it may be in the low 70's here and trees starting to bloom but I just ain't feeling it.

Sweden is apparently taking a different approach. It may rapidly increase the mass immunity effect and pass through Sweden faster resulting in approx same number of deaths (or less?) without collapsing their economy too. This will all be very interesting to see in hindsight once over as to what approaches and actions taken had the most beneficial net effects and things could change rapidly, but interesting. I don't think the US has the stomach for such an approach regardless and must appear as if everything and anything was done to save "just one life" even if it results in net more deaths due to say drug use, suicides, domestic violence, alcohol abuse, etc and collapse of the economy which will increase homelessness, etc. Their approach could also blow up in their face and get real ugly:

Have I missed the multi thousand page piece of legislation, that once a communicable disease epidemic is recognized in another country, where all international travel in to the US is stopped? Only way US citizens abroad get back in until the epidemic is via a month or so on a quarantine ship? If it saves one life and all that jazz.

Anyone know if Stephen King's "The Stand" is streaming anywhere? I don't really want to buy a DVD package (and even then they aren't shipping for a couple weeks).
