I got the flu shot my one & only time around 25 years ago & it made me the sickest I have ever been...haven't had the flu since & won't be getting any new shot next year for this. I'm a bit of a germaphobe & have always take the recommended precautions & more during flu season.

I don't put this crap in the same box as the vaccines you get in your earliest years & then done with it. Every person I talked to who caught the flu this year had the shot & my results tell me the precautions I take are effective. Happy Healthy & selfish.

Therefore, you could infect someone without realizing it who is elderly, a child, or someone who is immunocompromised, all high risk groups, without even realizing it. There are also people with no preexisting health conditions and are young that die from the flu, there was a 30 year old in Dallas that died this year that was otherwise healthy. There is basically no downside to getting the shot but certainly are possible downsides to not getting it.

Clearly your mind is made up but there is literally no good reason for not getting it when you can even get paid to do so. They are as convenient as your local Walgreens, CVS, Target, etc which are basically everywhere. The only reason you could have is that you just don’t want to, which is certainly your right but it’s also a selfish choice.
No, I understand everything you said. Some of the way I keep from getting the flu are the same things I do from preventing the spread of the flu I don’t have.

Is it wrong that I hope it gets you in the process?

It's my understanding that the flu shot is for one specific strain. "They" have an educated guess as to which strain will be around this time. If they get it right you are immune. If not you get sick

the flu moves north and south on the planet and back again continuously. "They" are continuously monitoring and modeling it as it moves. From my understand they pick the model about 3 months out and make an educated, modeled guess at what it will have evolved to when it hits the USA and start producing vaccines at that point...

Accurate. They make the shots based on which strain they believe will be most prevalent.

    It’s usually 3-4 they target
Actually you can still get it even with the shot and not just other strains but the ones it was designed for and of course so many other strains it’s just a well educated guess based on solid info these 3-4 look most likely
I do not want to say guess cause to be fair it’s not a guess but like anything like that you cant always predict a moving target

Sometimes older people develop less immunity also ?

It can make it less severe they have some stats of folks that were vaccinated and still got it then hospitalized and they spent less time in the hospital on avg then those that were not

That’s what is being told. I don’t know if it is actually happening.

Often the antibodies are so genetically close, if the vaccine is for strain "A" and you get strain "B" the illness is shorter and less severe.

There's no good reason to 'not' get the vaccine. What I do NOT like is being forced to get it.
