Fake news, the Ebola Czar was not fired by Trump he quit in protest when Bolton joined the administration and was not replaced because Ebola was so last year. And yes Trump has proposed cutting the CDC budget but congress has not done so. Here's an idea though, if the CDC would stop doing studies on gun violence as a medical problem and global warming ending the world and focused on the middle word of their name they could do a lot more valuable work on a smaller budget.

The "Ebola czar" position was responsible for more than just Ebola. You can easily look up what that office in the NSC was responsible for if you really think it's fake news. And the guy may have resigned, but Bolton did away with the office entirely. As far as the budget, simply cutting the top line for an agency is not how you steer budgeted spending in a bureaucracy towards what you want to achieve, which is Politics 101. Bureaucracy only reacts to budget cuts as if they're a zero-sum proposition unless someone is exerting real political pressure on them, like the public.

I mean, which part? It's easily findable to arrive at the fact that the CDC's budget has been cut for 2 fiscal years in a row. It's not like overall federal spending is going down.

The employment and financial effect of this thing are going to be far worse than the virus itself.

It’s very suspicious timing for this:
* Political cold-civil war. Tensions very high. Multiple failed bloodless coup attempts against POTUS. No strong candidate to oppose him in election.
* Financial crisis looming. Fed running out of options, been injecting money into overnight repo markets by the tens of billions per day/ week. Zombie financial system being kept animated by “printing”.
* You have extremists saying that we have 12 years before we do irreparable damage to the planet. People like Extinction Rebellion.

There many more if I could take the time to brainstorm.

Putting on my tinfoil for a moment: a major depression and crisis would be VERY good to a certain ideology. A certain ideology that “never lets a good crisis go to waste”. A certain ideology that is losing their ass at every turn. A certain ideology that is desperate at this point.

Am I saying that this resembles the plot of the Tom Clancy book Rainbow Six? A purposeful release of an engineered virus? No, I’m not. But no one can deny that things falling apart this election year would be great for the statists, the collectivists, the group that promises poor and desperate people many “free” things. The group that wants to consolidate power and mass swaths of the ecomomy the central governments hands. Panic and desperation rob a man of his reason.

What disturbs me is that I've read where apparently you can become re-infected. Usually if you get the "flu" and survive you're immune from then on for that strain and therefore GTG. Not so with this shit.

Please feel free to educate me if the above is not true.

BLUF, we do not know. With all viruses, you make antibodies. But there is a reasonable thought with COVID-19 to presume that antibodies either a) do not last long, and/or b) you do not make enough, especially with the elderly. In these cases, you can get a relapse. Also happens with the flu. But we do not know enough with this version of coronavirus to know because China et al., are not making all the data known. But COVID-19 appears such that you can get reinfected.

Folks need to remember the enemy gets a vote. This thing is novel in that it doesn't fit any particular model. Epidemiology's foundation is statistics and modeling. This is hard to figure because new things are emerging every week.
