Yes you took that right, Narcan is what caused homelessness.
There are some people who are just truly down on their luck are homeless a good portion are junkies, mentally ill, or just flat too stupid or lazy to work. I have no use for junkies. Let them OD, bag them up and throw them in a hole and call it a day.
We need to bring back large scale asylums. You’re a danger to society when you’re schizophrenic and you don’t wanna take your meds fine you go to asylum.
If you’re too lazy or stupid to work. I hope you have a good blanket because I don’t give a shit if you freeze or starve to death.

Having said all of that, the nearest big city near me with a serious homeless problem is Austin Texas, as a casual observer it would appear to me that perhaps the majority of them, at least by a narrow margin allow substance abuse and alcohol get between them and a normal life and living a more normal life.
No amount of money given freely out of my own pocket, or Tax dollars taken from me seem to be making a real difference in their lives.
To be honest, I have more respect for immigrants who come here legally, work to earn a living and go about their lives without ending up on skid row, bumming money at an intersection or to be stepped over as they lay in their own vomit near 6th street.
illegal immigration, totally different story, I'm a big fan or turning them around and marching them back across the border irregardless of their situation.
Not discounting anything you said, but some people never really had a chance. If you are born to drug addicted shitbags who abuse you and see you as nothing but a barter chip for benefits, the deck is heavily stacked against you and those who come out the other end "mostly ok" are going to be an anomaly.

Legal immigrants shouldn't even be part of this discussion, they came here legally like more of our great grandfathers. To me they are Americans or at the very least, lawful visitors. I see them like everyone else.

There are homeless and "at risk of becoming homeless" people who can be helped and want help if they can get it. Some directly contributed to their problems, others are a victim of circumstances beyond their control. I'd rather help those who can be helped before saying we need more immigrants.

And lastly, I'm fine with immigrants, but we shouldn't accept a single person until we have mostly solved the problem of illegal immigration.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.
