RIA is a good pistol for the $, I have a high cap A2 version. Got it out the door for $410 about a year ago.

Congrats! Whether you leave as is or mod it up, you have a shooter on your hands
I have a .38 Super and .45ACP.
I use to be a Colt, S/A snob and the first RIA I saw at a booth in a gun show I thought were 3rd world junk. RIA is all I buy now. I sold a NIB Kimber Custom II so I could buy a new RIA G.I. 5".
I own many 1911s, some highly customized with slide fit and expensive trigger jobs. The out of the box quality of a RIA matches them. The guns in my safe with the best triggers are the last two RIA G.Is I have bought.
The best trigger I've ever owned on a 1911, and I've spent a fortune and waited months for a pistol smith to do trigger jobs on my guns, is on the out of the box RIA sitting on the desk here next to me. I love them.

Deadcenter45, even though we all know what they look like, isn't it a law our something that you have to post a picture of your new gun when you're telling us about it?
Best 1911 value for the money. Bought my GI for three fitty 5 or so years ago and it just runs.
Buy some good mags and you’re done.
I don't mean to go on about RIA but one of the engineers that worked on redesigning the 1911 for Kimber is a good friend who fit a Brown thumb safety on one of my RIA G.I.s a couple days ago. He said the slide to frame fit of my Rock was as good as any Kimber. And yeah, they are not picky eaters.
