Why would you run subs unsuppressed?

More of a "why not", in my eyes. Running a suppressor may not always be an option. I know you can just run supers at that point, but I digress.

Why run anything unsuppressed at all, especially if you have a suppressor

Length of the gun. My PDW is 21" long, throw the can on it and its gets much longer. All depends on the use case at the time.

I have a 16” SOLGW East India Upper and its a damn laser. Coupled w A5 system and Vltor spring it runs everything but unsuppressed subs seem to barely want to cycle.

I tend to agree w/ the sentiment that unsuppressed subsonic is better left to subguns. Suppressed subsonic as well for that matter. 300 BLK really does shine in a 9-10.5 barrel supersonic suppresses.

I run my 9" BCM with an H3 buffer and a standard Tubbs flatwire spring. Suppressed, it runs 100%, zero stoppages, with both supers and subs. I have not ever run subs unsuppressed and so cannot comment on that configuration. Runs great no issues unsuppressed with supers.

My setups run all ways which is good but I see a significant point of impact shift when mixing in a recipe different from which the upper/optic was zeroed.

This has led to dedicate certain uppers to specific roles (for instance subs suppressed vs supers unsuppressed) because I am too lazy to record the dopes and adjust the optics.

An unsuppressed gun scares away the other bad guys waiting elsewhere, the subsonic keeps it from going thorugh the wall after it passes through said bad guy.
