If there’s any thought or intermediate barriers, SMKs should be written off completely.
AQ planned for years and sent their A team to carry out the attacks, and on Flight 93 they were thwarted by a pick-up team made up of United Frequent Fliers. Many people look at 9/11 and wonder how we can stop an enemy like that. I look at FL93 and wonder, "How can we lose?". -- FromMyColdDeadHand

Never tried it. But vicious_cb's post sounds about right. For OTM, if I were dealing with a barrier, I'd be sending a volley of rounds.

OTM's mediocre barrier penetration is actually a good thing for indoor/home defense right? That's part of the beauty of it. You're reducing your chances of a stray round hurting someone unintentionally.

Yes, that was my thinking actually, considering my home layout and the family members. If I have to a pull a trigger, I expect to know where the bullet is going, BUT the other guy has some say. So I have always looked at this as less barrier penetration is better in my situation. I’m not manning a roadblock.

This has been lost in the archives I’m sure so I’ll leave this here for some anecdotal penetration results through drywall. Pics are gone but plenty of data to compare.

Since reloading was mentioned, I remember Molon or somebody way back in the day mention that the Nosler 77gr OTM was constructed very similar to the 75gr TAP T2 round...thinner jackets on both than an SMK which made for violent fragmentation on unobstructed shots.

I personally feel comfortable with it inside structures based on my data. No question that a bonded does better...especially through glass. But standardization on one round is attractive to me too.
