Is there a such thing as a bluetooth repeater? Not extender. I have a Weber grill with I-Grill. I-Grill is a sending unit in the grill that connects to my phone via bluetooth. Problem is the connection only gets within 20 feet of my garage where I live while cooking. I need something that will receive the signal from the grill and relay it to my phone. Thanks for entertaining a question from an old, low tech redneck!

but bluetooth is affected by things such as walls

I would think webber forums such as reddit etc... might have lots of folks that have done this exact thing and might even have some turn key setups ? might be worth checking that out ? or asking on those kinda places



you could leave your phone near the grill then use a bluetooth speaker closer to you to hear it ? kinda like a repeater ? still have one of your previous or old phones maybe as a device that stays near it then goes out to a speaker could be a sort of repeater ?

your grill most likely has a class 2 or(could be 1) good for 30 feet on the best signal
some of the receivers etc... are more audio based and they do make some things that can extend range of bluetooth but they plug into wall outlet so could the signal from your grill make it to where it is so it can repeat would be the other question ?

Geeze and I thought computerized cars were the worst possible thing in the world. I can't imagine the frustration of dealing with something like an I Grill. I actually went more old school and ditched propane for a charcoal grill. When the coals turn grey add meat.

When I was in high school in the 80s we used to dream about a future with computerized houses and things like that but now that the tech is actually here I hate most of it.

A bluetooth/wifi smoker is an awesome thing, particularly a pellet one. I can leave mine and go do something constructive for several hours. I can monitor meat temps and grill temps. I can turn it up or down in temperature right from my phone in the seat of my bulldozer. I can drive a hundred miles and back all while cooking a brisket. There is no downside to me.

What you need to do is go to the Weber Connect system. It's wi-fi so you can monitor from pretty much anywhere without worrying about being in bluetooth range.

I'm with you. I do a lot of slow and low cooking and don't want to be tied to the grill for 5-8 hours. The I-Grill does everything I want it just comes up short of having the range I need. I'll look into the Weber Connect if it uses the same temp probes I have already. Thanks.

What distance is needed?
What version of bluetooth or what model phone do you have?
Bluetooth 4.2 released in 2014 is good for 200ft.
Bluetooth 5 released in 2016 is good for 800ft.
These distances are reduced greatly by factors such as walls, cars or bikini clad women.
