Ok. With summer heat coming on, I should be hiding indoors and loading more.

Disappointed with both of these results. These barrel used to be fast, but they got Jenna Jamoed and Heathered, and they’ve lost a hundo. We were trying to find a gun with a tight chamber to work up loads in, and these aren’t them, anymore.

Primers were flat like a dude’s tits.

Crimps with LFCD were on the light side. Could only see evidence of crimp on 1/10.

I’ll try a little more near max, but this powder lot is disappointing. I’m used to this powder providing good velocities with minimal pressure, at moderate charges. Crimps were as noted above with LFCD.

Are your CCI450s new production? I'm giving the #41s another go with TAC and 69gr RMR bullets for a chrome lined bulk blaster load if I can tame the primers.

They are. I’ve become very distrustful of the new 41s, though.

Have you been having issues with the #41s?

A friend and I bought a pile of bulk powder in 2019 and worked up a medium load that made us happy. But over the intervening years we started having increasing velocities and pressures. I don’t really know if its the shitty powder or the primers, but we got stuck buying 41s by the hundo during that period, so lot-to-lot variations might have been the problem. At the same time, MarkM was posting about large velocity increases in his familiar loads with 41s, so I got paranoid. Previously, I was using them with the goal of consistency.

Is 244 the stuff they're trying to replace 241 with? ~3gr is pretty light for a powder with supposedly similar burn rate to 241.

Not sure. I’m using it in subsonic carbine loads, and its been quite good in that capacity. Its got good SDs at a low charge weight, and a relatively small velocity delta from a Glock to a carbine training analogue. Seems pretty happy at low weights.
