    Colt AR-15 A2 sporter II

I had to save and bring back to life this dry, dirty, sad looking and lonely rifle hanging on the LGS wall.

Maybe it was the Tasco scope with B square mount that put off potential buyers. I removed that quickly. It’s a Colt AR-15 A2 sporter II from 1987 (R6500) with field sights.

    With the 1975 SP1 I bought 2 years ago

Good find and thanks for saving it. That is one of the earlier R6500s. The earliest ones had the slickside upper, some with A1 type uppers, and the later models had the A2 upper. The C7 type (A2 w/field sights) upper was used during the transition to the A2. I have one from 1987 that has the A2 upper. These are great shooting Colts.

Wow, very nice! That really brings back some memories for me...the A1 was my first issue rifle. Miss it. Someday, I am going to own a replica of the A1, minus that "third" selection on the selector switch.
    Good night Chesty...wherever you are.

I’ve also got an M16 with the fun switch (well two really)
