Other than the fact that ad revenues pay the bills, I have no preferences.

I support the forum by my paid membership, whether a manufacturer advertises or otherwise sponsors the forum makes no difference to me in my purchase decisions.

Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the President... - Theodore Roosevelt, Lincoln and Free Speech, Metropolitan Magazine, Volume 47, Number 6, May 1918.

Every Communist must grasp the truth. Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun. Our principle is that the Party commands the gun, and the gun must never be allowed to command the Party Mao Zedong, 6 November, 1938 - speech to the Communist Patry of China's sixth Central Committee

Is Sionics a sponsor? Lord knows they get a lot of love and $$$ from members here. Deservedly.

As a user, how does one sponsor vs another affect me, individually? Do I get a discount, or does Google lead people here looking for x brand info, and thereby attract like-minded people? How does one sponsor vs another affect the forum as a whole? I’m not being deliberately dense, I just have no idea how this works.

Is there a list of sponsors somewhere, or is it just the advertising banner at the top of the non-mobile site? I’m not seeing Sionics; they’re a pretty obvious fit. Colt, KAC, Surefire, Glock probably owe this site money, but I doubt they’re interested. Good to see Aimpoint is showing at the top. FCD, BRT, and Michiguns are commonly discussed here, they might want to sponsor (if not already).

Other companies I have spent money with, and discussed the products of include: Federal/Speer, Malkoff, Elzetta, Hornady, Winchester, Steiner, Zeiss, Leupold, PRI, Troy, Ergo, Griffin, Dead Air, YHM, Cloud Defensive, Vltor, Larue, Eagle Ind, Blue Force Gear, Dara, Trijicon, Rex Silentium, CRKT, Primary Arms, GCode, Safariland, Crye. Some of these companies have gotten dumptrucks full of money from me on the advice of other members, and some have gotten endorsed by myself, here. Just throwing pasta.
