If you go through all the trouble to do just one, you may as well do a few more.
You can SBR four of your current lowers for the price of M4-2000.
So I would atleast SBR one of your current lowers and buy an M4-2000.
No I agree I'd probably get more, just wondering what rationale might be for prioritizing which to get first.

I will definitely take the advice to SBR my lowers.

Right now I shoot my supressor almost every range trip. I never really shoot my SBRs.... not that I regret registering them... I just don't get much use out of them right now.

I'm going to SBR my lowers, so that takes care of that. I didn't realize I could do both.

So that primarily leaves the suppressor route.

I'm seeing a few Gemtech's .223s (HALO and other) in stock around here.

Any thoughts on that vs. the AAC, which seems to be unavailable.

I'm also seeing some EVO-9s in stock locally. Any reason to prefer the pistol silencer?

With all the talk on how backed up the NFA branch is.....
Definitely buy something from your dealer that is in stock "if it meets your requirements"
That way you can get your paperwork into the system sooner and wait like the rest of us.

My point, while that sounds like a lot of fun, the SBR has more of a use for me. Right now anyway. I see the arena that suppressors are useful if not necessary. I'm just not in that arena on a daily basis is all I was getting at.

A suppressor is on "the list". Just further down than other things. YMMV

If I were starting the AR NFA process today, this is what I would do.

Register existing lower, or purchase basic LMT lower to register.
Get on list to order new Noveske 10.5" N4 upper.
Find dealer with AAC M42k in stock right now, order.

IMHO the SBR is way more useful than a suppressor, and a suppressor on a 16" gun is entirely useless to me personally.

For sure! Most people will agree with you. I'm in the minority for liking my silencer more than my SBRs.

I concur w/ markm. Can then SBR. Ideally, both simultaneously would be the most fun.

I dont know why everyones is so worked up about the NFA and Obama? He wont touch the NFA, so whats the panic for? I can see for regular EBRS, lowers etc, but not any NFA item!

For me it'd be a tossup between an SBR and a Can, and Im leaning toward the Can
