Religion is doing what you are told no matter what is right. Morality is doing what is right no matter what you are told...
Good luck, y'all have overcome a lot of Jim Crow legal entrapments. Best I can recall when your concealed carry law kicked in it was a potential violation to carry practically anywhere due to a prohibition on establishments selling alcohol (to include cough syrup) and a real gem with anywhere big game animals could be found.
Tennessee has long been home to RINO's. Until Marsha Blackburn was elected to the U.S. Senate we had Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker, both RINO's. Sundquist was the Republican governor who was trying to block Shall-Issue CCW back in the day. Sure, we're definitely pretty conservative as compared to many states but not as much as we could and should be.

Permitless carry is the the way it should be. The right to bear arms shall not be infringed.

I have this feeling he's trying to atone for the refugee resettlement thing he tried cramming down the State's throat.
Experience is a cruel teacher, gives the exam first and then the lesson.
I believe it's safe to say that Tennessee hasn't been on the cutting edge of gun carry. There were more than a dozen states that flipped from May Issue to Shall Issue before Tennessee. A similar number of states have now adopted Constitutional Carry. Those states have demonstrated concerns over Constitutional Carry are unwarranted. I think it's likely to become law with perhaps some minimal restrictions like our new concealed-only carry permit.
2014 law allowed those without a carry permit to have a loaded gun in their vehicle. Step in the right direction but it also created a situation where folks were forced by law to leave the gun in the car when parked. Gun theft from vehicles have reportedly increased significantly. Along with this Constitutional Carry law are proposed stiffer penalties for gun thefts from vehicles. Reading between the lines...
Tennessee has never been a "gun friendly state", its always been a "gun tolerant state". Our current permit scheme is quite pricey when you add in everything you must do to get one. Cost of the training class, prints and the permit itself runs around $250+ depending where you take your class.
LE in this state loves to talk out of both sides of its mouth, every time Constitutional Carry has come up its been the TN highway patrol who cried the loudest. Followed by the usual suspects, larger PD's etc... When they finally rolled back our idiotic knife laws it was the TN Sheriffs Association that openly opposed that.

A permit and fee to exercise a natural right? Permission to exercise a natural right? Permits are stupid.

Michigan has the same problem with LE, if they are not for or neutral on anything gun or knife related it is dead.
The MSP are the reason we have so many ignorant laws here it isn't funny.
The MSP has troopers that are also lobbyist for the MSP, that in my opinion should not be allowed to happen.
