    Jerry can on an alice frame. buckets, you could make a hydraulic ram pump system to pump water up to you.

    How about the option of collecting rain water. Lots of info on the web. 55 gallon barrels are relatively cheap. The water would be safer than the creek water unless you know it's source. Rain water should less trouble to filter.

    Water bobs are good I'm not sure how one in a wheel barrow would be. The movement of the water would make it unstable and hard to push but it would work well in a kids wagon.
