    75 grain gold dot

    Howdy,
For years I’ve been using 55 grain gold dot. Fairly happy with it, but I’d prefer something a bit heavier with a boat tail. Could folks please post actual velocity for the 75 grain gold dot out of a 16 inch barrel? Also, for those who have shot actual critters with it, I’d appreciate your views on performance.
    Many thanks.

    2635 avg on 20 rounds from a 16” mid.
    2378 from an 11.5”
AQ planned for years and sent their A team to carry out the attacks, and on Flight 93 they were thwarted by a pick-up team made up of United Frequent Fliers. Many people look at 9/11 and wonder how we can stop an enemy like that. I look at FL93 and wonder, "How can we lose?". -- FromMyColdDeadHand

Dang, that is much more loss of velocity than I expected for an 11.5”.

Wow, that’s actually moving right along out of a 16”. Thanks.

Across a few platforms, I found the accuracy left much to be desired for 75gr GD. 62gr has historically shot well for me in my guns; I figured 75 would be better...it was not.

I was getting 1.5" groups at 100 with a red dot with it on the 16". Molon posted it here and he seemed to be a fan of its precision potential. I also read one dept was using it in a DMR role based on its performance.

Don't know what to tell you; had high hopes for it. 2.75-3MOA out of a DMR with 8x nightforce. Similar in other guns.

I get it. Some times it’s just f’n voodoo.

Did you ever run it through a chronograph? Safe to assume 1/7 - 1/9 twist?

Damn that’s smoking right along for a heavy .223 load. Might explain why it feels loaded hot even compared to XM193 in my subjective opinion when fired out of my 14.5” midlength.
