You would think they would be upset over the possibility of not getting booze, but then again those who vote Dem are probably all growing weed anyway.

To me Martial Law means that the govt is operating on the basis of pure threat of violence to control people, and has lost all legitimacy. If they want to go that far, it becomes who has the most force that controls things, and being as that things got this bad under the people imposing Martial Law, I'm not inclined to give them a second chance with new powers. Govts don't screw up because they aren't powerful enough.....

I've had first hand experience with martial law. Police, military and paramilitary (Philippine Constabulary) went into people's homes and confiscated firearms. How did they know where to look? Firearms were (and still are) registered.
Curfew. People disappearing and never being heard from again.
Martial law was used as a means to consolidate power and silence dissent.

Illinois city clarifies it hasn't banned firearm sales amid coronavirus emergency declaration

An Illinois city is telling residents that it isn't banning firearm sales or planning to seize property amid an uproar over an emergency declaration highlighting the mayor's purported power to do so during the coronavirus outbreak.

"This statement is in response to several false claims circulating online," a city press release read on Friday. "To be clear, there is currently no firearm ban and no intent to seize property or close businesses. Additionally, there are no restrictions on the sale of alcohol or gas or the ability to enter or leave Champaign."

“Again, there’s nothing that compels the exercise of any of these powers, and they’re extensive, there’s no doubt about it -- you look at these and you say, ‘Holy cow! The mayor can confiscate property!' Hopefully, that’s never going to be required,” Stavins said.
The simple fact of the matter is this, America has never not been great.

I've been really wondering how much of this Covid19 pandemic is just simply the progressive socialists in the political positions and in the media trying to use the situation to their advantage. Never let a crisis go to waste. You see what kooky Pelosi tried to push through on the emergency funding. Now local governments are trying to push the anti-gun laws out among other things. The whole Covid 19 thing is a real virus, but it appears to be a progressive socialist agenda smoke screen also. And it is only beginning. Trump derangement syndrome is more of a threat than the Covid 19 virus.

The first responders went house to house and confiscated firearms in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. It was easier for them because they only had to visit the residents who were sheltering in place.

I think the current situation is much different, but less than 1% of our population are showing symptoms of Carona and we are stabbing each other over toilet paper.

So they’ve clarified that they aren’t doing it now, but have the ability to do if they feel like it...cute.

The situation in Champaign comes as no surprise. The Democrats have been running Illinois (into the ground) for over 45 years and overstepping their authority is commonplace.

I'm seeing a disturbing amount of people calling for "martial law" to help prevent the spread. They either have no idea what that entails or they do and both are unnerving. The amazing part is the people calling the loudest for it in my feeds are the same ones that call Trump a tyrant...now he's not being tyrannical enough. TDS to the max.

It could be CCP propagandists on the other side of the screen but a lot of posts on different platforms point out how quickly China nipped it in the bud and say "it's a shame we don't have a system like that here". Between foreign interests and our domestic socialist/communist-types, it seems like this virus is the opportunity of a lifetime to push their plans.
