In general, an H is better than a CAR.

    What upper/barrel?

Are you having any issues with it?

Why do you think a carbine buffer would be better?

I was thinking that with a heavier full auto carrier the lighter buffer would allow it to cycle better

If it's running well and is 100% reliable, under all conditions, with an H buffer, it won't be 125% reliable with a carbine buffer.

Yes, M16 bolt carriers weigh more than semi-auto carriers, but very few manufacturers use semi-auto carriers (as has been the case for many years). If the manufacturer of your rifle included an H buffer, then the barrel "should" have a gas port of the appropriate size to use the buffer they provided.

There's a very good chance that you could run an H2 in it, and still retail 100% reliability......or even an H3.

There no reason to fix what isn't broken.

Well I sort of built this from nothing haha, I’m running a bcm lightweight 14.5 and a fail zero bcg, I haven’t put a ton of round through it.

I've built as many as I've bought....a couple with BCM barrels..... and they all run with carbine, H, and H2 buffers. If you live in the US, I'll ship a carbine buffer to you so you can experiment. I seriously doubt I'll ever use it.

    Was it a mil-spec trigger?

When properly installed, the hammer spring legs retain the trigger pin.
