Hmm, I'm in a bind, what exactly is in a Cuban ? I'm in southern Oregon never heard of one. After reading everybodies posts, sounds like I need to introduce myself to one.

Can someone please post the ingredients, and how best to prepare one.

Here we have Mexican and Tex Mexican. They make something called a Torta? Is that simlar?

    Thank you in advance.

Main ingredients are pork and/or spicy ham, Swiss cheese, pickles and spicy mustard. Ciabatta rolls are a common bread around here...

Funny, one of the challenges on Guy's Grocery Games last night was to take a Cuban apart and make an entree out of the main ingredients.

Diamondback, thank you, sounds tasty. Appears I have all the stuff, minus the chubatta? bread. Easy enough to make. I noticed a pic of a Cuban, via Sam . Toasted appeals to me. Going to try these for lunch with an ice cold corona beer tomorrow.

    Thank you.

Better when it's grilled on a flattop or steamed and panini-pressed. I'd suggest Italian-style cappacuola for the ham, and it might not be Tampa-style but Gulden's Spicy Brown is my go-to mustard though anything similar should work. Pickles need to be crisp and tart, no sweet hamburger chips.

    Bon appetit!

Thank you diamondback, looking forward to this experience! Lol. I don't have that ham, we have Black Forest. I'll get what you recommend. Got a killer butcher shop roughly six blocks from my house.

Was their Friday picking up a few tri tips, New York's, a prime rib 12 lb. two thick filet Minon . If we're locked down, we're gonna enjoy it!. AND 10 pounds of what they call farmers cut bacon, 1/4 ish thick slices. 10 pounds. And two pounds of jerky. I'm trying to loose weight, find beef or elk jerky for lunch, and jello with strawberries, grapes and blueberries sliced thinly, Fits the bill.

I'm a bread junky, I have to watch how much bread I eat. I could eat good bread every meal and snack everyday. . Until recently I'd been baking my own bread for many years. Three loaves a week, for us and our children who live in the community.

Ps forgive my spelling, my notebooks old and auto corrects sometimes not others. Today appears to be a " non" day.

Sorry I can get long winded.

In fact think I'll have both over with their spouses and kids, to try out the Cuban sandwiches.

We've found using leftover Thanksgiving turkey in place of pork makes an even better cuban sandwich. Everyone loves 'em.

The 2 Mexican places I have ate that served tortas were really good, but not the same as Cuban sandwiches including the Cubana version here.20200326_154112(1).jpg

What most of you are looking for is actually a Media Noche.

    My favorite recipe.

Step 1: Find a cuban girl who grew up cooking in her moms kitchen.

Step 2: Provide a bread press and LOTS of butter.

Step 3: Beg her to make you a Media Noche.

I think there’s supposed to be a step that involves exchanging vows. Is it 4?
