Interesting this thread came up. We just picked up my wife’s new car Friday. The service department had three people working up front and 4 mechanics on. The owner sent home all but one salesperson and the finance girl but they said they were packed the day before and people still wanted to come in for test drives. Owner thought that was ridiculous and unsafe.

We dealt with the owner because of a family connection. Luckily we had the car ordered to be built in December and it was delivered last week. We got the car under invoice and no BS charges...just tax. But then again we had a connection.

We keep cars a while and didn’t have a car payment for almost 4 years. Just added two car payments in the last year...now this shit happens. Hopefully our jobs are not impacted

My local Beemer shop is open for service, but apparently not for sales. Our Governor has more-or-less closed down the state (Wolfe/PA), including the rest plazas (ignoring that truckers need a place to stop..), and he closed the liquor stores as well.

Our 2012 Pathfinder had a transmission valve body go bad. Our local shop can't fix it because it requires dealer programming of said valve body. After dropping it off the dealer had a salesguy call my wife and try to sell us a new car telling her that even if they change the valve body and program it ($2000), the transmission might be broken and that would be $5000. I told her to tell them to F off and fix the damn valve body. Works like a champ again now.

    No car payments...thank you.

My friend's son works at a dealership. Sold like 2 cars this month so far. I went to buy my camper top for my new truck this weekend. The LEER factory is closed down til this Hong Kong Flui is over with. Dealer said they expected to be shut down this week.

All I know is Lexus Financial Services owes me $30K, and they're for all intents and purposes, "closed".

I ended up buying a new vehicle 31 Jan. It was about 99% of just what I wanted. I didn't want the black interior otherwise about everything I listed. A Sport S JT. After all paperwork it was less than window sticker, I could have gone other way. I was going to order exactly what I wanted. My next younger vehicle had just went over 250000 miles, a Jeep. Dealer's I pass by are stocked to gills not moving really squat. The interest rate was 3% then. It is and should be a buyers market. I had been planning my purchase of it for last few years on new vehicle, I did buy 2 months before I had planned, I wanted it to have been out 8 months to a year before I got it.
Now if this Sh$$ show don't send the country in to the new depression, buying in 6 months new probably not going to be wise or any good deals. Re ramping up production after shutdown. A friend of mine wife was moving into managment was to spend 3 or so months in management training with the company was laid off Friday. She was to fly out as soon as she had passport and Visa ECT done.
FYI: no trade in vehicle, and I keep having people trying to buy my other Jeep's.
I do hope I'm wrong. But I don't think so. I'd like to give my opinion on why part of this is happening but wrong place.
    Just my S.W.A.G.

I see Ford is now offering 0% financing on Mustangs for 84 months.

My dealer (Mopar) announced this evening that they’re closing until further notice due to Covid-19 health concerns. (Probably not selling enough vehicles due to the uncertainty either.) They have good sales and service departments so I’m confident they’ll be back.
