Went back to the range with aa2460

    23.7gr 2735fps .72moa (4 shots touching, 1st shot a little high, cold bore)

24.0gr 2736fps .94moa (I didn’t check every shot at 24.0gr earlier. I suspect a fast shot made the average higher, and a slow shot in this group lowered the average)

24.3gr 2787fps this is where it got weird. 1st three shots were .78. Then the last two opened up to 4.86moa. I really don’t know what to think. Neither shot were close to each other or really anywhere near where I was aiming.

24.5gr 2826fps. Again three shots at 1.15moa then the last two at 1.85moa. Not as bad but still odd. ETA this charge started showing slightly flattened primers. 68° now.

I may revisit 23.7gr, 24.0gr, and 24.3gr one more time before I make my final decision. I am liking this powder with this bullet.

At the range it looked like somebody got a new AR and shot 500 rounds of PMC brass through it. All in one pile and all new. That’s the brass I’ll process and go with for matches. If anything just to keep some consistency since right now I’m using a literal mixed bag of every type of brass I’ve been picking up for the past several years lol. Probably part of the issue with the fliers haha.

Your 23.7gr load looks good. Velocity of 2735 FPS is decent for a 18" barrel, that charge weight shouldn't get you in trouble when temperatures rise in the summer months.

If it were me I'd try a run of 23.6, 23.8 and 23.9 grain loads, along side of your 23.7 gr load.

Good shooting and best of luck.

On the 23.7gr AA2230-C, if I exclude the first shot, the four touching are .3moa. .28” wide by .16” high. That may be the best four shots I’ve ever had with the LPR Mod 2. Definitely going to explore that some more.

    Thanks

I would shoot a other group of four or five before putting my trust in one loading.

8208 has worked well for me behind the Noslers and a friend swears by a hot load of CFE223 behind the 77CC.

That’s exactly what I said I was going to do.

Cool. I'm seeing too much randomness in your groups to pick one over another.

I wonder if that's why I'm not done testing...

Let me see... Survey says.... Yes.

    Amazing.

I've been snatching up those 77 Nos blems from Midway. (they don't say Nosler, but the Cannalure is too deep to be Sierra). All my 69 and 77 loads have gone primer popping haywire lately. I need to back down to below max and start fresh with the current powder lots.

I bought a few thousand of the Midway 77gr blems when they were on sale recently for $179.90 per k. They're $359.90 again last time I checked.

I just opened a new box of Nosler 77gr CC's. Once those are gone I'll start on the Midway blems. I haven't opened any boxes yet but I thought the ones I got didn't have a cannalure. I'll have to check this evening when I get home to be sure.

Oh I just checked and the cannalure 77gr blems are on sale for $159.70! Might have to get a few K of them also at that price.

I've bought a variety of them over the years. Had a mixed box of cannalure/no cannalure batch with a few mangled bullets. The last boxes all looked fine, and all had the cannalure. I sorted off the No cannalures even though there's no difference in the two within my shooting/loading ability.
