    Urban evacuation/escape routes

Are you on/near an evacuation/escape route for a nearby urban area? Has your local govt planned to handle the influx of non-residents?

There are regional route maps here for:

The links for my area still work (NCR and BALT). Maybe the others were taken down for some reason?

Not sure which is worse... how utterly SCREWED we around Puget Sound are, or the pols that choose to knowingly and willfully MAKE us so.

I'm not escaping anything. There is no way in hell those routes are going to handle that many cars. It'll look like that scene from 4th of July where everyone was leaving DC right before the aliens attacked.

Anyone remember I-26 in SC a few years back when everyone was evacuating Charleston due to a hurricane? Gridlocked for miles, people stranded on the road for days. My parents live in Beaufort and it took them 8 hours to get to Columbia via back roads. Which is why now most people on coastal SC have not been evacuating since then.

Yep. Got to leave a day or two earlier than everyone else. Otherwise forget it.

I'm far enough away from every city listed that I'm not too worried. Even if the main travel routes are clogged or blocked, side and back roads still exist. Checkpoints and barricades are more of a problem because they could easily block the most common ways out of town, and you could be on them before realizing it.

Worst comes to worst, I'm about 2-3 days on foot away from where I'd want to be, across incredibly open territory. It'd be slow going, but it shouldn't be impossible.
It's f*****g great, putting holes in people, all the time, and it just puts 'em down mate, they drop like sacks of s**t when they go down with this.

Here side and back roads would be just as quickly clogged. Probably faster since you'd have to be on them to get to the highways
