It's that time of year and the ant mounds are popping up. Last year I used Orthene which was basically an effective eviction notice. The ants would abandon the mound but build another one 5-10 feet away the next day. M4C recommendations?

I've had good luck with the Raid ant & roach spray. It's pretty much a DRT solution.
Experience is a cruel teacher, gives the exam first and then the lesson.
I sprinkle/dump diatomaceous earth on mounds. Sevin dust works too. Otherwise, I use Talstar P as a barrier spray on the house/foundation.
As an FYI, domyown.com has products that the commercial guys use.

Sarin and VX work well. But I wouldn't recommend them

This is by far the most effective ant killer I have used. Just 1-2 tablespoons on a mound and it kills them all.

Edit:is this the same Orthene you haven't had luck with? I haven't had problems with the mounds relocating.

Been using Amdro for decades around the nursery. Trick is don't put too much on the mound or they will relocate. Easy to use also. Just be patient and let it work
Concentrate orange oil and water.
1oz per gallon of water. Dont use to much in the water or your grass will die... dont ask how I know that.
Pour over the mound.
Works like a champ on fire ant mounds. Guessing it works on other ant mounds, but we dont have them here in Texas.
Sugar ants that come in the house get the terro baits. A few days and they are no more.
Been using Amdro for years. Works great. I sprinkle a little on top and around the edge of the mound. Dead mound.
