I just finished my Remington 14.5” SOCOM I bought a few months ago; John Thomas parkerized under the FSB and P&W a A2 flash hider after he added one of his spacers to make it over 16”. I still have the Remington 11.5” barrel and trying to decide what I want to do with it.

My Remington 14.5” SOCOM barrel I bought during Christmas time; I finally finished it when I got back from TDY. The list of the parts are Remington 14.5” SOCOM barrel, AO Precision F/A BCG, M-4 upper I bought from Right to Bear Arms, BCM Mod 3 charging handle, USGI carry handle, KAC RAS, and Streamlight Protac weapon light. I will probably change out the Streamlight with a Surefire Scout I have with SR-07 rail mounted pressure pad.

I still have my Remington 11.5” SOCOM barrel I need to finish; I am trying to decide whether to buy a BCM flattop receiver or use the spare A2 upper I have in my parts bin to build a Colt 723 clone. If I decide to build a 723 clone, I would need to send it to John Thomas to have the barrel parkerized under the FSB (like he did on my 14.5” barrel) and to have the M-4 feedramps done on the A2 receiver.

What did John charge for parking under the FSB and perm-attaching the FH with his spacer?

JT charged me $15 USD, but I think it was a mistake because he thought it was the FSB. John was a man of his word and still charged me the same price. The price for the pin and weld was $50 USD. All together it was $76 USD with shipping. He is my go-to gun Smith

Broke down and bought one as a spare. This is sure to turn into a complete upper at some point...

Is it just me.. or is the barrel extension look like its not chromed but phosphate?.. Yikes, it does say the bore is chromed however just not the chamber?.. Perhaps an email to clarify but the provided pics do cause a bit of concern.
