Personally, I think that a film that takes a good look at the Ostfront from the view of the German Soldier (that in no way glorifies Nazism or apologizes for it) in the manner of Das Boot would be good. The bones of over 3 million German soldiers still litter the battle fields of the Soviet Union.

If you haven't seen it, Cross of Iron was ok.

I thought Letters from Iwo Jima was pretty well done. It was the companion piece to Flags of Our Fathers. If you can get past watching it from the Japanese perspective it's pretty good.

I watched 1917 and Midway recently and enjoyed those.

I'm still waiting for someone to make an updated movie about the Battle of Wake Island.
