The Venezuelan Navy - not the sharpest tools in the shed

"A Venezuelan patrol boat was sent to intercept the cruise ship Resolute, firing warning shots and ramming it several times.

The cruise ship, built to operate in iceberg-infested waters, suffered only minor damage and sailed to safety while the Venezuelan cruiser sank itself.

No one was reported injured in the scrape."

Reminds me of this classic exchange:

"This is an aircraft carrier of the US NAVY! Alter your course now!"
"This is a LIGHTHOUSE. Your call."

Yep, those Venezuelans taught them a lesson, didn't they?

Last time I saw something that poorly thought out, Argentina had decided to occupy the Falkland Islands.

Jeez. When I saw "Patrol Boat," I was thinking something along the lines of a WWII PT Boat. Nope, this ole boy was in the Corvette/Frigate range of size, and was relatively new and (probably) expensive.
It's f*****g great, putting holes in people, all the time, and it just puts 'em down mate, they drop like sacks of s**t when they go down with this.

    Yeah that's got to hurt.

The Naiguata was built in 2009 by Spain’s Navantia shipyards as a coastal patrol ship and displaced 1,453 tons. The Naiguata was 259 feet long and had a top speed of 22 knots. This ship was also armed with a 76-millimeter Oto-Melara rapid fire deck gun, 35-millimeter Oerlikon Millennium close-in weapon system, and two .50-caliber machine guns.

    Karma perhaps?

    Excellent outcome nonetheless.
A true "Gun Guy" (or gal) should have familiarity and a modicum of proficiency with most all firearms platforms.

....22 knots? Thats just slightly faster than the 1890s USS Olympia

Yet not sturdy enough to handle an intentional collision with a pleasure ship. The peoples money well spent.

They ought to paint a kill mark on the mast of the cruise ship or fly a pennant with the tonnage sunk written on it. They can advertise this as a once in a life time opportunity to cruise in 5 star luxury on an accused pirate vessel.
