Question Which Surefire adapter for 10.5 upper?

Did a search prior to posting - a question from the uninitiated.

I am not knowledgeable enough to buy a suppressor yet and more study is required; however, I have an 10.5” barrel pistol upper project I’ve wanted to pursue through Centurion for awhile, and would like to use a Surefire flash hider-adapter in this project.

My recent experience with Centurion builds was that they’re flexible with regards to parts customers send in, so I’d like to buy a Surefire for the build that will be suitable for a can (the can will come much later, of course).

My choices are between SF3P-556-1/2-28 or WARCOMP-556-1/2-28, both 3-prong.

I didn’t see any 4-prong options available on Surefire’s website.

    Which one should I select?

Thanking you in advance for any help with the subject.

A little search vi a google will provide reviews on each and even some comparisons. From there you can make a better choice for a future surefire suppressor.

I've used the three-prong hider on a 11.5" SBR- noticeable pinging when shot unsuppressed if you think that might bother you. My Warcomp is on a 14" gun and additional muzzle blast/report aren't extremely noticeable to my ears, although I'd be leery of firing any type of break on an unsuppressed SBR. Extremely loud and an irritating amount of felt muzzle blast, IME. You could always try one type or the other and sell/swap in the EE if you aren't satisfied.

Yup, ping on my 11.5 too. Hate that sound.

I very much appreciate the helpful replies, Gentlemen, thank you. Reading your real world experience with these, I am going to re-think my project idea.

You saved me from making an expensive error.

    Thanks again!

I don’t like the closed time warcomps but didn’t notice anything negative about the open tine one (limited experience). KAC’s open three tine didn’t ping IME.

Flash hiders with uneven-length tines, such as Dead Air, also do not ping. Dead Air’s KeyMo mounting system for its cans is excellent, as well.

The ping should not be a factor to base your decision on, imo.

OP, dont be dissuaded into buying a suppressor. Once suppressed, the differences between these two mounts is irrelevant. Surefire cans are also an excellent pick overall.
