    No impact marks or discoloration on the rear sight in either the folded or deployed positions.

    I dislike the marks left by brass on the brass deflector of my ARs. Cleans off but I still didn't like it. So I used the "hooks" part of some velcro on the deflector. Still there on all the rifles and I don't see any difference in function or brass deflection. I would try some and see how that works.

    That looks like you need to adjust your gas system. Something is out of whack and the shells are hitting the brass deflector too hard.

    Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences. I inspected all of the other cases I shot yesterday and it's clear that the same circular, bright impression is either completely absent or significantly diminished on other cases. Weird.

    Even though I’d assume it’s not a big deal, was it a factory gun? If not, what buffer are you using?
