Companies that are handling "The Panic" well....or not...

I ordered from Big Daddy Unlimited on the 29th of march. My order still has not shipped. The order was placed on two in stock item, BDU showed that they had over 700 in physical inventory. At they time it showed 8-10 lead time before shipping. I called, they stated that, that had been pushed back to a 3 week lead time before shipping and all new orders and orders already placed. I also made another order a few says after that has yet to ship, but when that order was placed it DID show the 3 week lead even though that product was in stock as well.

They state that they are behind on shipping item and they were getting over 3k in orders per day. So their shipping times are behind. Yet im getting constant email blast about products and showing on some that theyll ship same day.

Im less than pleased. I have give them my money, i would like my goods in exchange. After this, I see no reason to continue my membership. I am seeing plenty of other companies able to deal with this. Either they were lying about the products they have on hand, they already have my money at its not a important to them, or they arent set up to deal with panic rushes.

As much trash as we talk about PSA im sure if i had ordered from them, I would have had my products a few days after ordering them.

I ordered on the 23rd and literally just cancelled it. I’ve placed several orders with Brownells, Primary Arms, Arisaka Defense, abd Forward Controls Design in the meantime and they all shipped on a normal timeline. I don’t know that I’ll discontinue my membership because their pricing is still fantastic, but I’m also kind of annoyed at it.

Oh and I also ordered from PSA. It was earlier in the panic, around mid March maybe but far enough into that PSA had a disclaimer that they were behind. My order shipped the next day, literally the fastest it’s ever left their facility. Granted it was one red dot, but still.

ETA - I attempted to cancel my order from BDU and got a response saying that they’re unable to cancel any orders during the panic. That’s bullshit.

First, I think you have to take into account the hodgepodge of state restrictions. Then, some companies have sent home at-risk individuals and taken other precautions where they can. My experience:

Brownells has been quick, maybe a day slower than usual. I don't live too far from them, though, so even their standard shipping usually reaches me in 2 days, 3 at the most. I placed an order with Target Sports towards the end of March - that still hasn't shipped yet, despite their email that it was soon. I followed Sam's instructions for fast shipping on SGAmmo - ordered 1000 rounds of 5.56 and nothing else. It shipped the next day and was on my doorstep within 3. They have slowed down considerably and pulled a lot of stock from the site, but my experience with their new "rules" has been good.

Optics Planet has been all over the place. Their stock estimate is not accurate and I've gotten a confusing jumble of emails about different items in the order and shipping - some of it arrived quickly, other parts I have no idea. Euro Optics, on the other hand, was fantastic. I placed an order for a scope last Monday night and it was at my place by Thursday.

As for other stores, Best Buy has been good for online orders and they will deliver out to your vehicle. Wal Mart is a complete shitshow locally. It's typically packed, no enforcement of distancing, very little in the way of safety for employees. As of last week the local store will not deliver out to your car for in-store pickup. Our smaller, more local grocery stores have really stepped up in a way that a corporate giant can't or won't. I was always willing to pay more for something local, but even more so now since I've seen the biggest positive response from them.

I like how some companies are doing the "little" things like this:

    https://faxonfirearms.com/ppe-mask-ear-saver/

And offering them free so long as you cover the $3 shipping.

It's the little things that help in the long run and companies trying to be as innovative as possible during this crisis.
Experience is a cruel teacher, gives the exam first and then the lesson.

From the standpoint of employee safety the company has been recalcitrant to change any operations practices, or improve sanitation conditions on equipment or on company property. We’re still required to ride around in dirty equipment owned by the company, and even filthier third party transportation to and from our filthy equipment. For train crews desiring a clean locomotive it’s been on us and out of our own pockets to clean, up until this week. This week the company grudgingly supplied bleach, shop towels, and water with instructions on making our own wipes. Hand sanitizer is still not supplied.

Treatment of employees has deteriorated, because the RR never misses an opportunity to abuse employees when they can. With this goal in mind no allowances have been made for attendance, unless quarantined by doctors orders. If we get quarantined it is without pay for train service employees, and we get to jump through our own asses to get cleared by the company to mark back up to work. So obviously no one who gets sick will admit it because no one wants to go a month without pay. Great way to spread disease, I’m sure they don’t care although they will discipline anyone they can “prove” goes to work knowing they might be ill.

The company has also seized on the reduction in business to furlough as many people as possible, and threaten to furlough even more. Discipline cases are on the rise because a surplus of man power gives them the opportunity to outright fire as many people as possible for the most minor reasons. This has made our local management very happy because some of them genuinely hate subordinate employees.

In the meantime they’re touting to the public how we are doing our part to keep the lights on, medicine, food, fuel, and other goods delivered. Good corporate citizens. Blah blah blah. Don’t look behind the curtain!
Parting ways with Union Pacific RR 12 years ago was one of the best things that ever happened to me. Everything that I enjoy doing in life would be nearly impossible if I was still working for that outfit. It was satisfying work in many ways but Class 1 Railroads are stuck in the early 20th century in regards to employee relations.

Care to share the watch website, if not here, PM?

On another note, there is a large watch dealer based in Singapore. Huge selection. Swiss brands that aren’t marketed in America. Asian domestic market pieces, etc. I ordered a watch Friday night at 1AM. I was emailed a ship notice Saturday morning. A DHL van dropped it off about 9AM Monday.

ITS Tactical has free shipping, and it’s fast. Good auto communication. Same for 30 Seconds Out (bought some stickers to give to people).

SGAmmo has my respect, as I ordered some items incorrectly, reached out to cancel acknowledging their restocking fee, and quickly got an email back letting me know no need as they caught in time. I will look for an opportunity to order from them again.

Locally, the Meijer grocery/department store was ahead of the game for marking aisles for social distancing, staying stocked, etc.

OpticsPlanet... Well, I got my order in today, but it was super slow. I’m too busy at work to mess with most things right now, so it’s not like I’m sitting on the edge of my seat biting my nails in anticipation, but darn. It took a while. And I live less than 60 miles away if I remember correctly.

LGS is keeping ammo prices fair.

DSG has been great as usual.

Surprisingly Botach shipped same day. It was a only pair of pants though. Can't pass on vertx pants for $33 shipped.
