Solid Brass and Bronze bullets questions.

I know handgun ammo is no-go but what about rifle ammo?

I know that Brass/Bronze/Copper does a number on your barrel, what if you coat the projectile in some sort of plastic jacket? Or is the wear and tear not that bad?

Looking to get into loading, maybe even casting.

Barnes has been rather successful making nothing but monolithic pistol and rifle bullets. Hornady and Nosler have both been making them for numerous years. Solids have been used for hunting dangerous game for generations.

California, and possibly other states, has banned the use of lead in all hunting bullets, so the entire state is using nothing but solid bullets.

Solid bullets of any type are legal to make (federally). If you groove the bullet(see triple x bullets) it reduces wear. Coating wont do much, its the pressure that causes wear.
