    Glock 17 Gen 5 question

Recently I've seen some G17 Gen 5's for sale that have front slide serrations, while others are plain in that area. Is the slide with serrations a fairly recent offering?

I think it’s just the gen 5 MOS’s that have the front serrations.

I've noticed that too on the non-MOS G19's. Front slide serrations and no cutout on front of the grip.

I think once the changes for the MOS happened, why make two different frames, and the mill is set up to cut the front, so all newer production will be the same other then MOS cut.

All Gen 5s have the front slide serrations, even the 19.

I have two early 17.5s that have the half moon cutout on the front and no FCS. When the 5's first came out a lot of people didn't like the half moon cut (particularly on the 19) and that went away on the MOS guns. Like was stated above once that happened everything ended up going to the same setup (MOS and non MOS).

It is an alternate model. I have a 19 with FS but no MOS. I’m not sure if it’s an in-line replacement of the Gen 5 original or a parallel series. The no half moon cut on the 19 is key.

No. The first year or so of Gen 5s that we’re not MOS we’re the standard slab sides.

My Gen 5 34 was early production and has no front cuts and the half moon frame, didn't take long in the competition world for the changes to get made. Got the 17 MOS as soon as it was out and front cuts and no half moon.
