Per OP, links to that topic, and I have been stressing that aspect as the key to major complications (also linked in the OP) from the start:

to try to swing it back to medical and more about health and more about diet relating to your health
SOMETHING ALL WHO KNOW THEY ARE NOT HEALTHY CAN DO NOW !!!!
cut out sugar and processed foods folks
being skinny or not overweight/obese does not mean you are metabolic healthy !
they say about %12 of Americans are metabolic healthy
we know metabolic disorders are a huge problem for covid people (google lots of .edu and various medical info)
with the crap food we have on shelves today of course we know obesity is a huge issue and causes so many problems a lot thanks to our horrid food pyramid that is pushed on folks IMHO anyway everything has sugar in it anymore kinda sad so again IMHO do not follow the food pyramid our gov pushes !
eat paleo or keto as two options basically avoid any sugars and processed foods eat whole foods as a start wean yourself off sugar and start looking at how much is in most foods its scary
from CDC: 34.2 million Americans—just over 1 in 10—have diabetes. 88 million American adults—approximately 1 in 3—have prediabetes.Feb 11, 2020
now jumping toward the new vaccine
studies that show those who are obese tend to have vaccine failure (another easy to google) so even when this vaccine is out it won't cure metabolic health and yeah it will work for % but many with health issues can change this outcome
no idea about the %95 or whatever they are saying ? BUT with most America being so poor on metabolic health I can't see it being %95 effective no way as many here I am sure agree
I do wish more health/diet and get METABOLIC healthy was pushed by the media and doctors over scripts ! as that alone would have a HUGE impact and any here on the fence why not start today

Discussion on falling Mortality rates:
Here's Why COVID-19 Mortality Has Dropped
— There's no single answer, but a host of contributing factors
Healthcare workers are now seeing unprecedented increases in COVID-19 diagnoses and hospitalizations -- but there hasn't been a congruent rise in mortality rates even as case counts set records.
In fact, the COVID-19 mortality rate in the U.S. has fallen since the start of the pandemic.
That decline has no single, clear explanation, but experts have pointed to a host of contributing factors, including a higher proportion of cases among the young, increased knowledge of how to treat COVID patients, better therapies, and less overcrowding in hospitals.

While this is hardly a scientific statement, there seems (at times) to be no rhyme or reason to COVID mortality. It seems if COVID has your number you're fvcked no matter what they do.
Case in point: a 78yo home oxygen patient of mine was recently released from another hospital with COVID. Now this dude is on 3L at rest and a 10L Pendant (a LOT of oxygen for you lay folks) with exertion. That was his script before having COVID. Now you would think, with all the talk of co-morbidities, that he'd be fvcked. Well he's still kickin' believe it or not.
Other times you see a guy in his 50's who they hit with the kitchen sink and he nonetheless slowly declines and ends up dying. Maybe he had diabetes or high BP, maybe not. Certainly nowhere near as compromised as the first guy I mentioned.
Like I've heard some combat vets say "If the bullet has your name on it there isn't anything you can do about it".
If the mortality rate has dropped I'll wager it is only because of more widespread testing and we know more people have it than 6 or 8 months ago. That would make the mortality rate appear to decline.
One thing I know is that if you end up needing intubated (like needing a ventilator) due to COVID you are essentially screwed. That ET tube is like the "Kiss of Death".

F**k China!
I think so. Earlier in the outbreak testing was limited and prioritized depending on symptoms. Around here you would call a Covid hotline. Those with mild symptoms were told to stay home and isolate. If symptoms significantly worsened you would call back and get a referral for a test. I'd guess that a lot of folks were never tested until they got so sick they were admitted to the hospital. All that eventually morphed into public advertisements for free drive-thru testing, no referral, no appointment, no symptoms... just drive over to your local drive-thru testing site for a free test. So... there was initially a peak in death rates then a steady decline as testing became more widespread including more asymptomatic cases. I'm assuming this is what Trump is referring to when he says death rates have fallen 80%. (graph below)

This was shared in another thread: https://web.archive.org/web/20201126...ue-to-covid-19
Within it is this statement.
The CDC's chart shows significant excess deaths for 2020. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/c....htm#dashboardTherefore, according to Briand, not only has COVID-19 had no effect on the percentage of deaths of older people, but it has also not increased the total number of deaths.
These data analyses suggest that in contrast to most people’s assumptions, the number of deaths by COVID-19 is not alarming. In fact, it has relatively no effect on deaths in the United States.
While cause of death might sometimes be difficult or controversial to determine the totals deaths from any cause should not be. Why the apparent contradiction between these?
Wall Street Journal is paywalled but wanted to provide a snippet of their great analysis. As for this being a surprise, it is commonly understood in the technical audience that COVID was circulating in late 2019. Remember the National Security Council reportedly advised DJT to take action by January 2, if not in December.
Here is a link to the original study.

Covid-19 Likely in U.S. in Mid-December 2019, CDC Scientists Report
The new coronavirus infected people in the U.S. in mid-December 2019, a few weeks before it was officially identified in China and about a month earlier than public health authorities found the first U.S. case, according to a government study published Monday.
The findings significantly strengthen evidence suggesting the virus was spreading around the world well before public health authorities and researchers became aware, upending initial thinking about how early and quickly it emerged.
Scientists at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found evidence of infection in 106 of 7,389 blood donations collected by the American Red Cross from residents in nine states across the U.S., according to the study published online in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases.
They also found 67 samples with antibodies in Massachusetts, Michigan, Wisconsin or Iowa, and Connecticut or Rhode Island collected between Dec. 30 and Jan. 17.
