Early CDC serology studies came in last week - Mostly bad news.
New York had almost 7%, Washington State 1.13% and 2% in Utah. That means there is a huge amount of fuel for the viral outbreaks to burn through going forward. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...b-surveys.html
    See collections dates.

Results: We tested sera from 11,933 persons. Adjusted estimates of the proportion of persons seroreactive to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein ranged from 1.13% (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.70-1.94) in WA to 6.93% (95% CI 5.02-8.92) in NYC (collected March 23-April 1). For sites with later collection dates, estimates ranged from 1.85% (95% CI 1.00-3.23, collected April 6-10) for FL to 4.94% (95% CI 3.61- 6.52) for CT (April 26-May 3). The estimated number of infections ranged from 6 to 24 times the number of reported cases in each site.

Conclusions and relevance: Our seroprevalence estimates suggest that for five of six U.S. sites, from late March to early May 2020, >10 times more SARS-CoV-2 infections occurred than the number of reported cases. Seroprevalence and under-ascertainment varied by site and specimen collection period. Most specimens from each site had no evidence of antibody to SARS-CoV-2. Tracking population seroprevalence serially, in a variety of specific geographic sites, will inform models of transmission dynamics and guide future community-wide public health measures.

I had to chuckle at a JUCO baseball coach I know and what he said about quarantining athletes yesterday. Basically: "you can't bring college athletes back to campus and expect them to stick to isolation. Hormones will make any attempt at that impossible."
Our daughter is going to Washington to play soccer. Athletes are going to begin a 2 week quarantine August 1st. It is a JUCO without dorms so daughter will be in an off campus house with 3 other girls. They are hoping to have a fall season with plan B of playing in the spring. I'm not very confident she won't lose another season of soccer...
Fortunately, HS soccer was a fall sport so she did get to play her senior year.
Tough on these kids who have worked so hard for so many years. Glad it's just soccer and not her career like some folks.

Condolences, amigo. This side of the Mountains, our governor is trying to milk this panic for every bit of power and "reward friends/punish enemies" he can.

Not conclusive to say for sure but there’s preliminary evidence that you might lose antibodies after some time. There’s more to immunity than antibodies but if this turns out to be true, and common, it would pour more cold water on natural herd immunity.

Best of luck to her. I love my JUCO soccer players we work with and followed one of the teams almost all the way to nationals last season.

    Asymptomatic Transmission of Covid

Note: there's a difference between Presymptomatic and Asymptomatic Transmission. Support for Asymptomatic Transmission has been all over the place. Here's the latest if interested minus media etc spin or filtering:

Good read here. It's out of my lane and area of expertise to really comment on. Not sure we will ever know the answer, but scientific consensus will emerge as time goes on. Right now I think most feel it's a naturally occurring. But, some highly qualified people do not:

The most logical explanation is that it comes from a laboratory

The well-known Norwegian virologist Birger Sørensen and his colleagues have examined the corona virus. They believe it has certain properties which would not evolve naturally. These conclusions are politically controversial, but in this interview he shares the findings behind the headlines.

I had not heard of testing for COVID in wastewater but we're doing it here. At the time of testing, cases estimated to be 20 times greater than actual positive tests indicated: Based on the concentration of COVID-19 in the wastewater, the company estimates there were 12,500 cases in our area the last week of May. At the time, the Health Department reported 642 cumulative cases.

Has a study been performed to determine why New York has such a high rate of reported Covid-19 deaths, and if yes, what did they determine?
