Own both books, bought the series after it came out on Prime. Awesome series, read the books after for a different/better insight.

Ok, now I'm working from memory without a net, but I could swear we always got our 4473s called in, even back in the 80s. Unless of course they were checking that "Is known to me" box.

Regarding the Davidians, if you were there, I'll take your word for it.

It matters not that Donald Trump is President, the base government is staffed by the same type of people with the same mindset now as then.
I think it was also the mindset of HRT at the time, especially their willingness to adhere to special rules of engagement. Seems to me they didn't "rescue" a lot of people.

Even if everything they said was true, the Koresh was a dangerous cult leader, that kids were being abused physically and sexually and everything else. They didn't really rescue those kids now did they?

Can't even begin to talk about lost doors, missing video tape or any of that shit. One would think the FBI would have learned not to "mess with the works" as they were the ones who proved US Marshals lied about events at Ruby Ridge and that they did indeed fire first when they killed Sam Weavers dog in front of him. But it seems they learned nothing and ATF and the FBI began a campaign of controlling the narrative no matter what they had to do.

Will also be interesting to see the general response from mainstream viewers who might not know this story. We've all had to watch The Tiger King, we might as well learn the story of Reno's ATF and the HRT hit squad.

I saw that particular gem in a "documentary" on Amazon last night. I literally laughed out loud. Be easier to just make pipe bombs than to "activate" a novelty piece like that. While I'm certain you could make a functioning grenade with tons of work, I'm not sure the end result would be worth it.

That hit piece really liked using the "OMG, they've got GUNS!" angle to vilify the group as well. Didn't even bother watching the second part.

I will have to check it out one of these evenings. I lived just outside of Waco at the time of this and remember it all fairly well. Was a crazy time.

This documentary of the stand off shows from a FLIR equipped aircraft flying overhead that the FBI was firing into the compound while the CS gas was being injected into the buildings.

They could have found someone more manly and uglier to play Janet Reno.

It was a good show. My wife was 18 at the time and hung up in a bad time in her life, so she doesn't remember one bit of it. Man was she pissed while watching the show. She's a mom of three kids and the final scenes really got to her. She actually lost sleep over it.

My daughter was just over a month old when the siege ended, I took six weeks off work leading up to her birth and in the month that followed and remember watching all the coverage in real time, while she slept in my lap. She called me a couple days ago and said she had just finished watching this series, it was so cute her telling me all about it. She is a new mom and was also pretty upset about all kids dying.

Of all the times when Will Farrell actually would have been wanted for the film...and he wasn't there.
