Hey brother, I do know how you feel. I have felt the same way and sometimes still do. It never seems to stop, the idiots seem to garner all the limelight, civility has seemed to have gone into exile and it feels like God has left us to fend for ourselves.

But in my 30+ years as a cop I have found that for every idiot in the public’s eye, there are hundreds of good folks just like us who balance them out. Cast your attention to the good, common people and gather from them the energy of righteous folks doing right day to day. It has gotten me through dark days of my own and hope it helps you do the same.

Yeah, you get it, Sarge. Definitely.

I will take your wise words to heart, and adjust my attitude. Thank you for posting.

Bro, stop watching the news. This shit has been going on in some form or another since the 1960s...and honestly long before that.

People on the news get paid to lie to you and to predispose stupid people into a particular direction. If you are offended it is because you are fortunate enough to be educated and able to see through the BS. Would you really prefer it to be otherwise?

We aren't in political reeducation camp yet and all is not lost, otherwise Hillary would have won the election. Not saying Trump is the savior and going to fix it all, but he's not gonna break as much shit during his watch at the White House.

Things could be better, things have already been worse. If you are healthy, you are doing better than some of the poor bastards that actually have this virus that didn't come with lots of answers and if you are truly fortunate none of your loved ones is suffering from what is still a largely unknown medical threat with few actual answers.

It started out as "not a big deal", then it was gonna be the one that "got us all" and now they are back to "we aren't exactly sure and we don't know exactly what we are doing." Two generations ago people were dealing with polio and they had no solutions, kids were getting it and dying, the lucky ones ended up crippled or with "rest of your life" medical challenges. This current situation is so much better than that one...it's not even fair to compare the two.

And if it ends up being dramatically overblown...then excellent. Better to over prepare than get caught unprepared. Three years ago I was evacuating south florida with an MP5 on my lap fleeing hurricane Irma and there were a couple times I really got worried that we weren't gonna get out clean. This is more controllable than that.

As my wise EOD buddy once said "If you aren't on fire...you are having a pretty good day."
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

Others have said it. There are a lot of good people out there. Dark Days are opportunity to show what the Light looks like.

Shoot a message, reach out, whatever, if it gets to you. I’ve been there.

This is the key right there. My wife and I have a friend who watches Fox News nonstop. He whips himself into a frenzy over everything and it's not healthy, mentally or physically. Turn that crap off, and if you are left leaning same goes for CNN et al, head outside and enjoy the weather. I spent about 6-7 years only watching the local news for stuff that was relevant to me locally. In the last few years, I started watching National news again but this Covid business has me turning it off again.

Limit or stay away from MSM. Where is contentment right now? Obviously its inside you. Just a subtle shift in your focus. Choose more positive social media influences. But again don't be hooked on consuming internet information. A life worth living is more than viewing crap on a screen. Also understand that there is no inherent or universal purpose and meaning in life. So don't look outside yourself for it. Instead what is meaningful to you? We create our own purpose and meaning. It can consist of little things or it can be something big. If the motivation is to elevate your ego its not genuine. Life is what we make it. Have you ever heard the saying " it's not my world, I'm just living in it"? It's so true. Our lives are so short in this world, it existed long before us and it will go on with out us. Our job isn't to right the world, it's to right ourselves in our daily lives through our choices and actions. Focus on what matters to you even if nobody else cares or notices.
    Big brother is watching...and listening.

What a great response, thank you to both Buncheong for sharing his personal feelings so candidly but also to davidjinks for his open and public empathy.
    Good luck Bunch.

I understand where your coming from.

This whole situation is very hard to take, what makes it even harder is that nobody has ever really been in this situation before. Yes I know the world has had pandemics before. But the powers that be have never shut down basically the whole world. For most of the world have followed the USA, even if it doesn't make sense.
At the start of this, we had people we had to unwind in multiple countries. We were taken by surprise when some of the countries we had people in and had zero cases of Corona closed down in the blink of an eye.

So my Corona time has been spent like this, the first 1/3 was totally stressed due to trying to get people back home. Then I entered the time of more stress as money kept going out, with zero money being made.

Then about 10 days ago, my life became balls to the wall again insane as very wealthy started worrying about money. I have a relationship with one of the strongest private banks, so people have been contacting me about moving huge amounts of money out of where they hold it to a more secure bank.

So in a way I have been blessed, since most of my time has been spent solving problems. But I am not built for being on lock down. If we go though this again in the winter, it is really going to suck.

But what makes it worse for me, is I think the government has over reacted. How many people are going to have marriages break up, people that will loose hope and hurt themselves. Maybe we should just dive in head first suck up the hit and the rest of us develop immunity.

If your not working out start, even going for a long walk will help your mental state.
