    Westworld Season III

Final episode is coming up shortly, but didn't get much discussion here. I like it over season II, but nothing like S1, which was as good as it gets. While I'm enjoying S3, there's something missing I can't quite put my finger on. The formula for a great show is there, yet something is just missing. Know what I mean? It took them so long to get S3 out, I'd literally forgotten all about that show. Maybe the lengthy time between seasons took something away from it.

    S1 A+
    S2 B-/C+
    S3 B+

S3 definitely worth watching, but it's missing something that could have made it must watch show.

Definitely enjoying this season. I agree, it is better than season 2 but season 1 was tops. My issue is that I don’t like Aaron Paul as an actor, so that is the season 3 drain for me.

I feel the same way. I think maybe it's lacking a clear point or full understanding of the current world situation. I would have preferred a story that stayed within the park theme but S2 killed that idea.

It is well done and beautifully set and shot. I love that they shot scenes all over the world to get that authentic look and feel.

Funny you should mention that. I don't mind him as an actor, I just don't think we was well cast at all in that part. They usually do a great job on the casting, why they chose him I can't fathom. Now it appears his character will be center stage for the final episode. Meh.

Is season three going to be the end?

I like to season one and they lost me at season two. The whole time jumping thing was interesting for a while, but sometimes I just want to be entertained. I know they were going for some big thought topics, but I was happy with titties and and the idea of what kind of person you would be if you were Effectively above the law.

Season 1 was amazing. Just like Season 1 of True Detective. Just seems like they couldn't catch that lightning in the bottle.

Same for Altered Carbon. First season was very good, S2 was so so. See what S3 brings. I suspect the stars aligned for S1 and the rest will be OK, but just will not have the the "it" S1 did all around.

This effect always reminds me of Audio Slave. The first album was so good you pretty much knew they could only go downhill from there, and it was unlikely they could catch that lightning in the bottle twice. That was exactly the case. A few decent tunes on the follow ups, but nothing like that first effort.

Season 2 was a train wreck - way too into itself and I had no idea what was going on. Season 3 is an improvement, but, I agree, it’s missing something. Maybe it’s the lack of movement towards a compelling climax, like figuring out the “maze” and getting to the center of it. Maeve’s “goal” seems too simplistic and I have no idea what Delores’s is any more - does she hate humans? Does she just want to watch the world burn? She stated herself that she was one of the last of her kind. What is actually driving Aaron Paul’s character? What is the point of Bernard now? There’s just no real character development beyond the confused mess that was Season 2.

Then again, maybe I’m not as into the plot because, deep down, I know Serac is right.

Like Delores, I can't figure out why Maeve is fighting her and does not just team up with her and really kick ass, other than Maeve's ego. Aaron Paul, like me, just wants to bang Delores and is along for the ride having been bored to death in his past post mind washed life. I don't know what Maeve’s motivations are other than something something her daughter. And the stain on the man in blacks life was creating the hosts? Seems like the only good thing he's ever done!

I'm rooting for hosts/Delores to win, call it Humanity 2.0, and call it a day. BTW, that's sorta the underlying theme of my last SF novella Soul-Mind.
