I figured if working a bunch of gun and spending the money on a tool, I may as well get the one that has the flexibility to do a bunch different types so I went this route...

Works for a variety of popular rifles, including AR-15, AR-style .308 rifles, Remington 700, Winchester 70, Savage, and Sako.

7/16 is a rare size that's why I suspect most companies just use 3/8.

Calling @lysander to chime on the pin size.
No, it's been a 3/8 pin all the way back to the Colt drawings.

Cool thanks. I've seen a few different companies use both sizes (including BCM and Toolcraft) and always wondered why no consistency.

I agree with this for the following reasons. I recently bought some Colt ejector roll pins from Brownells and they were 3/8. I recently drove out an ejector roll pin from a brand new colt bolt and it looks identical to the pin in the brownells Colt labeled bag parts. Also 3/8.

I bought some rebuild kits from CMMG and their ejector roll pins were all 3/8.

The one I drove out of the bolt that came in a new Cryptic coatings BCG was 7/16.

I guess you can use both sizes being "more" carefull to center the 7/16 to keep it from hanging out one side.

I once google searched this topic to near death and got results as both sizes as being correct length.

But 3/8 is the correct Colt length and is all I use now.

Get Young Manufacturing bolt vise from brownells and a 1/16 punch.

A better hint is that Colt's Drawing says "Pin, 95102 (ref MS9047-005)"

You can look up MS9047 here and see that -005 is .375"
