    6920 verses 6721

I love colts yet have other ARs with I love too....I have a question...perhaps someone can help me with. The colt 6920 comes with a light M4 1/7 twist barrel and a 30 round mag or 2. The 6721 tactical carbine has a 1/9 heavy barrel, and 2 20 round mags.
Anyone know what colt was thinking.........or was this just pure marketing......kind of like, one must have one of every model. I must say that my particular 6721 does out shoot my buddies 6920 to a very small extent, especially after about 100 rounds or so. His groups start to open up just a tad while mine stay nice an tight.

My 6920 came with 2 20 round G.I. mags with black followers and the crappy finish that shows scratches really easily. The barrel is the lighter kind with a 1/7 twist. Not 100% sure on that the twist rate though.

I suppose it depends on what weight bullet you wish to shoot.
    6920 for heavier wt.
    6721 for med wt.

I'm typically using the M855 SS109 surplus ammunition by Federal and Winchester in my Colt LE6920.

I hate those mags with a passion. I threw mine in a box somewhere after using them twice. They suck.

thanks guys for the responses, I inquired of my friend with the 6920

and he stated that the dealer did in fact trade the 2 20 round mags out for some 30 round alum mags........I was just wondering why not put a 1;7 twist barrel on the 6721? That said I am very pleased with the way my barrel shoots....it even shoots the heavy stuff well....guess I got lucky......

Well the reason they suck has less to do with their finish and more with their followers. They allow the bullets to shift forward too much causing insertion problems. They fed right but they appear to be the POS magazines they issued during the Vietnam war or something. Crap finish, black follower that tilts too easily and you've got to smack the mag on something to line all the rounds up before inserting the magazine.

These are junk magazines. Though I've read about people swearing by them.
