LOL. When Did Colt Sporter "Ban Rifles" Become Collectible...?

Looking at some prices on GB and they are twice what a current production model with full features would be.

I get that Blue Label and Green Label models in configurations that are out of production have a collector following...but the neutered Clinton Ban rifles? The idea that someone would pay for a 16" barrel carbine with an A2 fixed stock and a 74 style brake for the cost of two 6920s just has me shaking my head.

    A number of reasons:

    1. Colt postban barrels are probably some of the best neutered barrels for ban states. People are parting out these guns for the barrels.
    2. Match Target HBAR lowers being used to build automatic rifle 741 and 750 clones.
    3. Lowers are not on a ban list that says you can't have an "AR-15" marked lower.
    4. A2 uppers are getting increasing difficult to find in mint condition.
    5. Idiot buyers on gunbroker who don’t understand what “post ban” means and think they are buying something rare or special.

I keep forgetting ban states exist. Scary that there are people in this country who can't simply buy a NIB 6920.

There is also a dwindling supply of postban Colt rifles so people that live in these locations are in bidding wars for them.

It blows my mind that in some states, you can't drive around with a loaded AR on your seat.

I actually wouldn’t mind getting one of the Sporter Lightweight carbines with the fixed A2 stock someday. Off and on over the years I’ve messed with fixed stock carbines a fair bit and actually rather like the configuration. I’m not paying stupid prices for one though.

In Maine I can have the loaded mag literally sitting next to the gun on the seat, but not actually in the gun itself. Less honest individuals, who don’t respect the benevolence of government and don’t understand that gun laws are necessary to protect us all from ourselves, might be inclined to just regularly drive around with their SBR with a loaded mag seated and just reach over and jettison it if they see blue lights behind them, but I personally would never engage in such shenanigans.

    In some very rural states,
You can do that with a pistol or sub machine gun,
    But not a rifle.

As all gun laws pretty much revolve around not poaching at night.

Makes sense, I just thought these things were getting collectible. Kind of like how HK SR9 rifles cost more than HK91s because there are fewer of them in circulation even though it's a "ban configuration" version of the 91.

    Since BAN states became fashionable?

Lotta first time noobs there, trying to get WHATEVER they can get, I suspect.

Or a loaded handgun tucked into your waistband, concealed under a t-shirt.

And that you don't really care if someone 'sees' it, because nobody ****ing cares.
