    Just a data point.
This country fought a war that freed slaves that cost 100,000's of lives. Native Americans, Germans and Irish also face the same issues. While there have been problems, slavery is illegal in this country to this day while in other countries, slavery continues on wards. This country and organizations in this country continue to fight against human trafficking and slavery everyday. I suggest that perhaps you should sit down and study actual history instead of quoting talking points from radicals.

How do you justify chasing a guy in a t-shirt and running shorts because he stole something from a construction site when it's very obvious that he has nothing in his hands?
Where is he hiding all of this valuable construction equipment in his shorts?
It sounds like to me, these guys had a bone to pick (as mentioned earlier, someone took a gun out of the father's truck, sometime earlier) and not that they had any hard evidence that this guy committed a burglary they observed.
It's one thing as a Father to wreck and ruin your own life, it's quite another to drag your Son down with you.

Agree. I hope I'd have the stones to go at 2 men with guns while unarmed.

In this report, McMichael id's Arbery as the person on video responsible for the break ins. New video shows Arbery inside a house under construction. McMichael believed Arbery may have been armed because he put his hands down his pants when he apparently ran into him "the other night". So, it sounds like there was at least one previous incident involving these two people.

In the video, Arbery runs around the right side of the truck and then goes left towards Travis McMichael and attacks him, then is shot during a struggle with the shotgun. Not too smart of a thing to do.

In Georgia, you can make a citizen's arrest. I believe that Travis McMichael had every right to defend himself when attacked. What would people say if Arbery had gained control of the shotgun and shot both McMichaels? Where the McMichaels might be screwed is you actually have to witness the crime in progress.

To me, the smart thing to do would have been to call the police and let them handle it. But the blame for Arbery's death doesn't rest completely on the McMichael's actions, Arbery contributed to his death also by his actions.

I'd give it a little time for the whole story to get out. He could have been scoping things out to see what was there, then return later in the dark to steal it. There again, he could have been just curious about what was going on. Who hasn't gone onto a construction site to look around at what is being built?

Why put the part where they likely shouldn't have been tracking him down in the first place towards the end?

McMichael also said they pulled up alongside Arbery and stopped then the fight broke out so it appears what he claims he sees versus what actually occurs can be far from one in the same.

It seems that both parties played stupid games and both won/will win stupid prizes.

How are they going to figure out what he was going to do later?

Maybe crank it up a notch and claim he was scoping it out for sound proofing for the torture and murder he was planning?

So, there is no crime in all of that and it's pretty obvious there is no crime. "scoping out" a construction site may technically be a "Crime" as in trespassing, but honestly, who hasn't done it? People are curious, especially young men and people in the market for a home.
These two had a motive and as whacked as this whole event is, we are likely to never know or understand what that motive was.
I would take a guess that it had nothing to do with checking out a construction site. No, I don't think they are some inbred Klan members, I think they made a bad decision that was only made worse by the momentum of the event, adrenaline and some crazy half baked prejudice.
These two don't need a "Free Pass" regardless of the Father serving in Law Enforcement, it should be just the opposite, He Should Have Known Better.

Because in the document above, it appears that there was at least one previous run in between the two in which McMichael suspected that Arbery was armed. Arbery's intent isn't known as to why he was in at least one construction site. I'm not saying that he should have died because of this. He died when he assaulted Travis McMichael and Travis McMichael defended himself.

Regardless, it is a bad situation all the way around.
