Regarding Grendel, bolts are a bit deeper allowing for a thicker extractor which is a bit stronger than 7.62x39.
But still just as thin walled so not as strong as a 5.56. But a good quality bolt shouldn’t be an issue.
Still, if this concerns you, there’s .300bo.

I bought a windam weaponry SRC in 762x39 for under 500. As a range toy. I have beat the crap out of it and barely clean it. with the ASC mags, it has been 100% reliable. I can not remember the round count, but it has to be at least 3000 rounds. Not a single malfunction past some 154 grain soft points (they will not cycle in the ak's, and sks also, so its not the rifles fault). And i have been shooting the cheapest 762x39 i can find. Even some copper cased ammo that was from the 70's.

I have 5-6 and no feeding problems
Get PSA firing pin or black rifle arms bolt and pin, and Young MFG bolt and pin , clean chamber good
I have removed the ORing from all the extractors, works great

FWIW I've since fired over 5k though this carbine and haven't had a single failure with the CPD mags FWIW

So far so good after several hundred rounds. Swapped the GI handguards for simple Strike ($30) model and threw a 10 year old Vortex red dot and its shooting a 1 ragged hole group at 15 yards offhand. Fun to shoot!

    Gonna buy a 16” next.

I'm working on a project to figure out the answer to just this question...

    Velocity Steel Case trigger
POF Barrel with E² extraction chamber
    Redxarms extended firing pin
Adams Arms bolt carrier with integral gas key
LMT Enhanced bolt (snagged one of the last ones)
    CPD mags
    H3 Buffer
    Strike Industries Flatwire Carbine spring
    PWS Buffer Tube

Project is on the back burner at the moment, but should be fun once I finish it.
