    LMT MWS Optic Suggestions

I have been reading up heavily on the NX8 2.5-20 vs the Mark 5 3.6-18x44. I have a 6.5 creedmoor (22") barrel and plan on a 13.5" .308 to compliment it.

Is that top end magnification not worth the eyebox trade off than say a ATACR 4-16x42?

Ugh. Its so hard to buy sight unseen. Anyone with any recommendations is greatly appreciated. Even if it's harsh. I know the 13.5" would benefit from more of a LVPO. Is it a fools errand to expect utilizing the 6.5 with the higher magnification?

I'm newish to long range shooting and just want to buy once / cry once. For reference: I have a Mark 4 2.5-8x36 on my mk12 clone and have had a lot of fun with that rifle and have found that glass to be satisfying.

Any specific reasons or activities for the gun? A 22in 6.5 is a fundamentally different gun than a 13.5 308. I don't get an SBRish 308 when you can just shoot an AK, or a 300BO, but to each their own. With an 18inch 308 gun intended for longer range gas gun, I've used my 3-15 Premier. Proned out and bipoded. When I use my 16CL, I run my 1-8 CQBSS. Now I pretty much just juse my 1-8 and don't do precision shooting with the LMT.

To me, a 1-10 would be a really good rifle. I'd really want more scope on it for the 6.5 for full potential. 4-16/3-15 with a offset red dot?
The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.

    It's that simple.

I see those barrels as needing very different optics. 6.5CM/22" needing a precision oriented optic and the 308/13.5" with a LPVO in the 1-6/1-8x range.

I just see a 6.5 like that suffering with most / all LPVOs and the same with a 13.5" 308 suffering with a 4-16x optic. The new Razor 1-10x would likely be the best compromise but it's still a compromise.

I have a 16” 308 MWS and I’ve been trying to decide between the ATACR and MK5 for awhile now. I’ve flipped back and forth a few times. I’m leaning toward the MK5 to maximize weight savings.

I’m currently using A Bushnell DMR2 Pro on it right now. It’s a great scope, but a tad heavy for what I want long term. I bought it last year because it was a good deal and it never hurts to have an extra scope in the safe.

For your purpose, I vote MK5

So, I own the atacr 4-16 and the mark 5 3.8-18. How much do you care about weight and what will you be doing with it? If budget or weight is a concern, grab the mk5. If durability or mount availability is a concern grab the atacr. Their glass is comparable, their turrets are both decent, both offer the T3 reticle (which is what I would recommend for both of our caliber choices). 18x is more than enough for 6.5 and the 18x is right at home with the 13.5 308. If you were only rocking the 22in 6.5 barrel I would recommend stepping up to the 5-25 or 4-28 range with a mk5, atacr, or steiner. Another option that could work very well for you as well could be the new night force 2.5-20 NX8 in the T3 reticle.

I don’t have experience with any of your specific setups so take this for what it is worth. I have an MWS with a 16 inch 308 barrel on it topped with a Vortex Razor HD II 3-18. I think it is over glassed. With the addition of a 6.5 barrel I think the optic would match the setup better but only time will tell.

I have the 4-16 ATACR and absolutely love it. One of my favorites scopes. You could add an Offset RDS for your 308 if you want, or just run the ATACR on 4X, that would work fine IMHO.

I love this place. Y’all gave me a lot to think about. I’m leaning towards the Mil-XT reticle. I’ll be starting off honing the 6.5. I’m thinking the 13.5” .308 may be too extreme and might cop the 16.” Especially since LMT has them for $499 this weekend.

25x will give me more upside as the sweet spot will be around 15-18x or so whereas 16X sweet spot will be 12-14x.

I don’t see this being my go to weapon. I’ve trained with my Colt M4. So I’m leaning towards longer range. I guess I’m glad there are so many good options.

That MWS with the 22” barrel is one heavy chonker.

I was almost dead set on the NX8 but feedback suggests the eye box is very tight.
